Logan Paul Gets Clowned On After Tweeting One Piece Manga Investment

Boxing, WWE, crypto investments, NFT-based video games, and, of course, Pokémon cards; if there’s a grift, influencer and podcast-bro Logan Paul has tried it. But his latest money-making scheme has proved to be a bridge too far for some, as Logan Paul is getting clowned on after announcing that he’s acquired a graded, highly sought-after copy of Weekly Shonen Jump issue 34, which marks the first official publication of Eiichiro Oda’s 1,175-issue-long manga, One Piece.

Paul revealed his latest investment in a post on X earlier today, alongside pictures of his Beckett-graded copy of Weekly Shonen Jump #34. “Proud owner of the greatest Mangas in the world (imo),” Paul stated in his post. “One Piece Chapter One 9.0 (second highest grade in existence, pop 3). First canon appearance of Monkey D. Luffy. One Piece is the #1 selling Manga in the world at 600M+ copies sold… The Manga journey has begun…”

Due to Paul’s well-publicized Pokémon TCG investments, which have been blamed for indirectly increasing the price of Pokémon cards, the anime and manga community isn’t too pleased with his latest hustle. “If it suddenly gets harder to get manga volumes because of this larper I’m gonna lose my mind,” posted one user on X. “He really is just jumping from one fandom to another ruining the hobby for everyone that actually care about these series,” commented another. “He didn’t even bother to do a little bit of research and simply asked chat gpt to write that post for him.”

I hate this shit so much, this comes from not an ounce of love or appreciate of these works, not a care about these stories his entire life

This is purely a financial decision, another way for him to try and make obscene money, I hate what he’s doing to collecting https://t.co/54gDliEs05

However, the most high-profile reply comes from one of Paul’s fellow content creators, IShowSpeed, who simply commented, “You don’t even know shit about One Piece.” Paul has locked the comments on his post on X, but the 18,000 likes his post has received are currently being dwarfed by the 351,000 likes on IShowSpeed’s reply. For context, IShowSpeed has made his love of One Piece well-known dozens of times in the past, and is even currently sporting a profile picture on X of its protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy.

If the situation wasn’t already funny enough, though, another user on X pointed out that Paul may have accidentally purchased a reprinted version of Weekly Shonen Jump #34. While the company that graded the issue, Beckett, does generally specify on graded products whether or not they are reprints, the version that Paul owns does indeed look similar to other reprinted versions of Weekly Shonen Jump #34 that have sold in the past.

It would be quite a costly mistake if true, as a graded versions of the reprint tend to sell for roughly $700, whereas an original, ungraded copy of Weekly Shonen Jump #34 last sold for $6,875 back in late 2025.
