Few villains in The Lord of the Rings are as terrifying as the Nazgul, the nine Ringwraiths who serve Sauron and relentlessly pursue Frodo throughout his journey across Middle-earth, and a new release focuses on how terrifying the Witch-king of Angmar truly is. Once mortal kings, the Ringwraiths have become some of the most recognizable enemies in J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy universe, particularly thanks to Peter Jackson’s film adaptations. Their appearances are already unsettling enough, but the moment Frodo puts on the One Ring and sees what lies beneath their dark robes is arguably even more disturbing. It’s a brief glimpse into their true nature, and one of the most memorable scenes in The Fellowship of the Ring.
The confrontation at Weathertop is particularly important in The Lord of the Rings, bringing Frodo face-to-face with the Witch-king of Angmar and leaving him wounded by a Morgul Blade. While the Ringwraiths usually appear as cloaked figures, Frodo’s perspective reveals something far more sinister, with their ghostly appearances illustrating just how deeply Sauron’s influence has corrupted them. It’s an unforgettable sequence that has inspired plenty of collectibles over the years, and one company is now recreating the Witch-king’s spectral appearance in an especially elaborate way.
The Lord of the Rings: The Nazgul King is a Limited Release in 2027
PureArts has revealed a new The Lord of the Rings: The Nazgul King Art Mask Exclusive Edition, priced at $1,299 USD and limited to just 250 units worldwide. The collectible is a life-size, 1:1-scale recreation of the Witch-king as he appears in his spectral form during the Weathertop confrontation. Preorders are currently available through PureArts’ official website, with shipping expected in Q2 2027 (April through June). The exclusive edition is only available directly from PureArts and includes a miniature replica of Lord of the Rings‘ Morgul Blade in its ghostly form at no additional cost.
What makes this Lord of the Rings collectible particularly impressive is its attention to detail. PureArts uses silicone skin, glass eyes, and individually hand-punched hair to recreate the Witch-king’s deteriorating appearance, complete with intricate textures and decaying facial features. The mask sits atop a polyresin base depicting the ruins of Weathertop, with a Morgul Blade incorporated into its display support. Standing approximately 29 inches tall, 13 inches wide, and 11 inches deep, the entire piece weighs roughly 10.4 pounds. Each of the 250 units also comes with an individually numbered plate and a matching certificate of authenticity.
PureArts has been steadily expanding its Lord of the Rings collection, with several other high-end releases inspired by Middle-earth. For example, it has produced a life-size Lord of the Rings Crown of Gondor replica, which recreates the crown worn by Aragorn, while its lineup also includes statues and art masks depicting Sauron, the Mouth of Sauron, Gollum, and the Witch-king in his more recognizable armored appearance. Interestingly, that earlier Witch-king mask features his iconic helmet and a base inspired by Minas Morgul, while this new release focuses specifically on the supernatural appearance revealed to Frodo.
The Lord of the Rings Nazgul King Art Mask is undoubtedly aimed at serious collectors, with its $1,299 price tag placing it well beyond the usual range of franchise merchandise. However, its limited production run and unusual design make it one of the more distinctive Witch-king collectibles available. With The Lord of the Rings continuing to inspire new projects and merchandise decades after the original films, there’s certainly no shortage of ways to celebrate the world of Middle-earth.
