Magic: The Gathering has revealed one of the biggest chase cards fans will be able to pull from the upcoming Star Trek crossover, showing off a signed card of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. The coveted Magic card will feature a handwritten autograph from actor Patrick Stewart.
The beloved Wizards of the Coast card game has already welcomed multiple major crossovers in 2026. Magic: The Gathering‘s first Universes Beyond set of the year launched in March 2026 with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion, adding hundreds of cards based on the franchise. Magic later debuted the second crossover set in its ongoing collaboration with Marvel in June, bringing together characters like The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and Doctor Doom in its massive Marvel Super Heroes crossover. Now, Wizards of the Coast is giving fans a sneak peek at one of the most exciting cards coming with its Star Trek collaboration in November.4.
Magic: The Gathering Shows Signed Captain Picard Card
Magic: The Gathering officially teased one of its “Headliner” cards releasing with the Star Trek crossover via the game’s social media. The set will include a limited quantity of autographed cards, teasing signed full-art versions of Star Trek‘s Captain James T. Kirk, Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and Star Trek: Voyager‘s Captain Kathryn Janeway. The video from Wizards of the Coast suggests that the cards will be hand-signed by their respective actors, showing Patrick Stewart autographing a copy of the Captain Picard card. Magic: The Gathering‘s autographed Star Trek cards will only be available in Collector Boosters of the expansion, which is scheduled to launch on November 13.

Wizards of the Coast has already given Magic fans plenty of teasers of what to expect with the game’s Star Trek crossover. The Star Trek expansion will feature special “Stardates” cards as its main form of bonus cards inserted into booster packs, reprinting popular cards with some of Star Trek‘s most iconic characters and moments. The set will feature treatments of several cards in a design inspired by Star Trek‘s LCARS interface, including alternate printings for each of Magic‘s “shock lands.” Magic: The Gathering will also carry over the scene card concept used in Marvel Super Heroes, including several Borderless cards that line up to form iconic Star Trek scenes.
Star Trek isn’t the only major Magic set coming in 2026, with two other expansions planned to launch ahead of it. August will welcome the release of the highly-anticipated crossover with The Hobbit, expanding the game’s crossover with the Middle Earth franchise and featuring a new version of The One Ring. Wizards of the Coast will also debut one more in-universe expansion in 2026, launching Reality Fracture as a unique set focusing on an alternate universe created by popular planeswalker Jace.
Wizards of the Coast recently gave fans a look ahead at what to expect from the game in 2027 during MagicCon Amsterdam. Magic: The Gathering will kick off 2027 with the introduction of a new plane, whisking players to an underwater kingdom with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm. The summer in-universe set will combine two of Magic‘s most popular planes, Kamigawa and Ikoria, with Kamigawa: Titanbreach, while the last in-universe expansion, Zhalfir, will heavily focused on the “Afro-fantasy” genre and will be the first expansion centered on that plane. Magic: The Gathering is primed to follow up 2026 with a similarly big year in 2027, bringing plenty to excite both longtime and new players.
