2K Games has leaked the existence of Civilization 7. The game will most likely be announced at the 2024 edition of Summer Game Fest.
The event’s organizers have recently teased a big 2K announcement that’s coming at SGF 2024. The reveal, expected to arrive in the form of a trailer, will center on the next entry in one of the publisher’s “biggest and most beloved franchises,” the mid-May teaser states. Fans have been speculating about the identity of that series ever since.

Civilization 7 Logo Appears on 2K’s Website
2K itself now appears to have spoiled its upcoming reveal, having accidentally shared a Civilization 7 logo ahead of time. The image, first spotted by Reddit user rickreckt, appeared on the publisher’s official website on June 7, approximately 12 hours ahead of the opening showcase of SGF 2024. While 2K quickly realized its mistake, the logo had already started making the rounds on social media by the time the publisher removed it from its website, where it was prominently featured at the top of its homepage.
The next mainline entry in the long-running strategy series hence appears likely to be the star of 2K’s SGF 2024 lineup. This premature reveal also casts doubt on the possibility of a Borderlands 4 announcement at the event, which leaker Kurakasis recently claimed was on the agenda. But a June 7 follow-up saw them walk back on that prediction, saying that they are no longer certain of its veracity while apologizing for sharing it without sufficient verification.
Borderlands 4 wasn’t the only 2K game that fans had previously suspected might appear at this year’s edition of Summer Game Fest. Mafia 4 has also been the subject of similar discussions, not least because the next entry in the open-world action-adventure series has long been confirmed to be in the works at Hangar 13. The studio acknowledged its existence in August 2022, as part of the 20th anniversary of the franchise. On that occasion, Hangar 13 General Manager Roman Hladík said that Mafia 4 was “a few years away” from being ready for release. Between that status update and the recent rumblings of a Mafia-related announcement being on the horizon, some fans were hoping to see the next series entry at SGF 2024.
That now appears somewhat unlikely, as supporting SGF with more than one major game announcement would be a largely unprecedented move for 2K. As for Civilization 7, its ostensibly imminent reveal indicates that the game may be on course to hit the market by year’s end. All 21st-century entries in the franchise debuted in either September or October of their respective release years.
