A recent datamine may have just revealed a new game mode heading to Marvel Rivals, and it’s one that few fans would have expected to see in the hero shooter. According to some well-known leakers, Marvel Rivals could be adding a vehicle-based racing mode in the near future.
While a racing mode would be unlike anything the hero shooter has seen before, Marvel Rivals is no stranger to experimental game modes. Over the last year and a half, Marvel Rivals has presented players with 11 limited-time game modes. These have ranged from seasonal PvP modes like ‘Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival’ to co-op PvE modes like ‘Marvel Zombies’, but all have given the core Marvel Rivals formula a unique mechanical and visual twist. Currently, fans can experience the second limited-time mode in Marvel Rivals‘ ‘Path to Doomsday’ ongoing event, which puts teams up against an overpowered Ultron.
Marvel Rivals Could Be Adding Vehicles and a Racing Game Mode
On August 5, renowned Marvel Rivals dataminer X0XLEAK shared a new leak on Twitter. According to X0XLEAK (via Insider Gaming), several files and an in-game model have just been added to Marvel Rivals which point toward the existence of a working vehicle system in the hero shooter. X0XLEAK doesn’t give any more details on what these files or the in-game model look like, and specifies that this is subject to change.
Who’s That Character?

A few hours later, RivalsInfo took to Twitter to seemingly corroborate X0XLEAK’s datamine. RivalsInfo posted a brief one-minute video showcasing gameplay footage of a car driving along Marvel Rivals‘ Hellfire Bay Beach social area. The car itself seems to be a simple placeholder model with little visual detail, and the camera following the vehicle frequently clips into the ground underneath it as it’s driving along, confirming that this feature is far from complete in its current form. In the caption accompanying the video, RivalsInfo says it’s unknown where this vehicle system will appear in Marvel Rivals, but they think it could be attached to some kind of ‘Formula R’ racing game mode.
Back in October 2025, a handful of Marvel Rivals characters received special ‘Formula R’ skins, depicting the heroes in racing gear. Psylocke was the first hero to be given a Formula R makeover, though she was quickly joined by Thor and Squirrel Girl. In May of this year, Luna Snow received a Formula R skin that came in three different styles, and a week later, Black Cat got her own Formula R outfit. If RivalsInfo’s theory is correct, then these skins could tie in with an upcoming Marvel Rivals racing mode.
Of course, all rumors and leaks should always be taken with a hefty pinch of salt, and as these leakers themselves point out, this vehicle system is subject to change and the racing mode is purely just a theory at this stage. That said, Marvel Rivals is one of the most consistently datamined games out right now, with X0XLEAK themselves being responsible for leaking the vast majority of Marvel Rivals‘ current roster long before they were officially announced.
