Arc System Works is giving fans of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls their best opportunity to check out the game before launch, with an open beta that is stuffed with game modes and characters to try out. Following its surprising reveal last year, Arc System Works has been heavily reliant on player feedback to help drive development on Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Thanks in large part to previous closed beta tests as well as feedback from conventions, the game has seen plenty of changes, tweaks, and additions ahead of its launch in August.

In fact, that game has seen plenty of momentum over the past few months as fans have largely praised many of the changes, such as improvements to character tagging as well as the continued reveal of new characters. The reaction to Dr. Doom’s villain team in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was extremely positive, adding the hugely popular Magneto to the newcomers of Green Goblin and Carnage. Even with just a few weeks remaining until the game is live, Arc System Works is planning a huge open beta event on July 24 and running for 72 hours.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Open Beta Has More Than Online Matches

While many open beta events typically only give participants only a small slice of the overall game, Arc System Works appears to be going in the opposite direction. Instead of simply letting players hop online to battle each other, the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls open beta will have most game modes and content unlocked for players to try out. This includes Marvel Tokon‘s Episode Mode, the single-player element of the game that mixes together comic book storytelling with playable matches. In this case, players can experience the first three chapters of Spider-Man’s Amazing Guardians team.

Naturally, online game modes like Online Casual and Ranked will be available to jump into, which shouldn’t be too surprising for those who took part in Marvel Tokon‘s previous closed betas. However, this time around, the Lobby system will also be featured. Similar to other Arc System Works games, like Guilty Gear Strive, players can pick from 16 unique avatars to explore the lobby system and play online through various arcade cabinets. The Open Lobby also features mini versions of the game’s stages as well.

This beta is also the biggest in terms of characters, featuring 15 of the 20 in total. It’ll also be the first opportunity for players to go hands-on with Blade from the Samurai Outriders team in Marvel Tokon. In addition to Blade, players can try out the following characters:

Fighting Avengers

  • Captain America
  • Iron Man
  • Black Panther

Unbreakable X-Men

  • Storm
  • Wolverine
  • Danger
  • Magik

Amazing Guardians

  • Spider-Man
  • Ms Marvel
  • Star-Lord
  • Peni Parker

Samurai Outriders

Players who may not want to rush online also have a slew of options waiting for them as well, as Training Mode will help teach the basics of the 4v4 combat and a ton of options to tweak like training dummy and gauge settings, as well as other training mode essentials. There are also local and offline game modes as well.
