We’re now less than two months until the launch of Marvel’s Wolverine and fans have a new story trailer to celebrate with. The latest look at the PlayStation 5 exclusive shows Logan getting his ass kicked by just about everyone, including the newly revealed Lady Deathstrike. This confirms the adamantium-clawed nemesis will be one of the deadlier foes Logan faces in his journey.
Marvel’s Wolverine has the titular comic book hero and friends tasked with saving fellow mutants from roving bands of mercenaries called Reavers. While these have at various times in the comics been associated with Lady Deathstrike, in the trailer it seems like she’s leading a band of red ninjas as they try to capture Logan. The rest of the trailer, titled “Ain’t No Hero,” shows Logan grappling with his history of violence and his inability to escape his past.
Lady Deathstrike’s deal is that her father created the adamantium bonding that was used on Logan, and while she herself is not a mutant, she is essentially a cyborg. Her powers come from having adamantium grafted onto her own skeleton and the addition of cybernetic implants to her body. Instead of claws that come out of her knuckles, she slashes with claw-shaped fingers. Notably, Lady Deathstrike just appeared in the latest episode of the Disney+ series X-Men ’97.

Given Marvel’s Wolverine is Insomniac Games’ own unique take on the character, everyone’s backstory has likely been changed up a bit, so we’ll have to wait to see what role Lady Deathstrike takes on in the finished game. That launches on September 15. In the meantime, PS5 players are thankful it will be arriving with a disc version, unlike Sony’s future exclusives. “You know who isn’t the hero? The killer of physical,” reads one of the comments on YouTube. As you’d expect, there are dozens more like it.
