Marvel’s Wolverine Unlikely to Appear at February State of Play

Marvel’s Wolverine Unlikely to Appear at February State of Play

Fans hoping to see more of Marvel’s Wolverine at this week’s State of Play event shouldn’t get their hopes up, as developer Insomniac Games tells the community that more of this year’s massive PlayStation 5 exclusive will be shown in the Spring. While the likes of Saros and other PlayStation 5 titles are highly likely to appear during the February 12 State of Play, it looks like Insomniac has other plans for Marvel’s Wolverine, as fans may need to wait another month at minimum for any further trailers or general news.

The wait for Marvel’s Wolverine has been nearly as excruciating as the never-ending Grand Theft Auto 6 delays. PlayStation and Insomniac revealed the highly anticipated title in 2021 alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 during a PlayStation Showcase, and while the second mainline installment in the studio’s Spider-Man series launched just two years later, fans have been waiting five years to get their hands on Marvel’s Wolverine. Thankfully, the wait is almost over, as last year’s September State of Play finally confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch in 2026.

5 Superhero Games That Have Better Writing Than The MCU

These games may not boast the degree of spectacle that you’ll see in big budget MCU films, but they certainly have great writing and characters.

Insomniac Shuts Down Marvel’s Wolverine Appearance at February State of Play

On February 12, Sony is treating PlayStation fans to a new State of Play event. The company has confirmed that the broadcast will be over an hour long and will feature gameplay updates and announcements from across the globe. Fans can likely expect to see tons from both first and third-party studios, but it looks like Insomniac Games isn’t planning on making an appearance during the event. At least, not with Marvel’s Wolverine, anyway. In response to a fan on Twitter asking when more info on the title will be shared, the studio simply responded with “Spring 2026.” As Spring doesn’t officially begin until March 20, 2026, this completely rules out an appearance at this week’s State of Play.

Although this is now the second time Insomniac has insisted its next title won’t be shown again until Spring 2026, many have speculated it could make an appearance at the February 12 State of Play, as its release window was seemingly leaked by the PlayStation Store earlier this week. According to a listing on the Latin American PlayStation Store, Marvel’s Wolverine will be released in Q3 2026, which means anywhere between July and September. Given that Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch in November, Sony and Insomniac will likely want to avoid the blast zone as much as possible, so a September release window would make sense, but it has yet to be confirmed.

With the event set to run over an hour, which is highly unusual, there’s sure to be tons of big reveals and significant updates. However, alongside Marvel’s Wolverine, fans also shouldn’t expect to see the long-awaited PS5 port of Starfield make an appearance. According to trusted insider Shinobi602, an official reveal by Bethesda will take place in March, and not at this week’s State of Play.

Ever since Microsoft began bringing more and more Xbox exclusives to PlayStation 5, many have been eager to know when Starfield was going to make the jump. Although Bethesda hasn’t made any official announcements at the time of writing, rumors suggest the studio is working on a major 2.0 update that will likely launch alongside a PS5 port sometime this year.

So while the likes of Marvel’s Wolverine and Starfield probably won’t be making an appearance this week, fans can be sure to see more of Housemarque’s next title, Saros, which is due to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on April 30, 2026. The third-person roguelike stars Rahul Kohli as Soltari Enforcer Arjun Devraj and builds on the gameplay style the studio developed with 2021’s Returnal, but looks to be much more forgiving thanks to persistent upgrades and less randomly generated environments.
