Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is revamping the original Metal Gear Solid 3’s battle damage system by showing Snake’s injuries as he sustains them in-game. Fans of the classic Metal Gear Solid 3 were pleasantly surprised when a current-gen remake was revealed at the PlayStation Showcase 2023 last May, with an Unreal Engine 5-rendered Naked Snake appearing onscreen in an impressive Metal Gear Solid Delta teaser trailer. At the recent Xbox Game Showcase, Metal Gear Solid Delta was shown off again, giving players a look at the upcoming remake’s stealth-based gameplay.
Judging from this most recent Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater gameplay trailer, it seems that the remake will retain many of the elements that made the original Metal Gear Solid 3 one of the most revered stealth games of all time. Naked Snake (who would later be known as Big Boss) will once again sneak his way through a lush jungle landscape on a mission to prevent the Soviets from activating a deadly superweapon during the Cold War in the first chronological entry in the Metal Gear franchise.

Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake Release Date Leaks Early
The release date for Metal Gear Solid 3’s upcoming remake potentially leaks ahead of time by a notable retailer, combating rumors of a delay.
Snake is bound to pick up a few cuts and brushes during this covert operation, and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is taking an upgraded approach to battle damage. As confirmed on both the official Metal Gear Solid Delta website and the Metal Gear Official Twitter account, any damage Snake obtains will be physically shown on his body, with his clothes suffering wear and tear and bruises and bullet wounds appearing on his skin. This is shown in a brief gameplay snippet of Snake painfully patching himself up after a presumably difficult skirmish, with the super soldier looking especially worse for wear.
Metal Gear Solid Delta Will Show Physical Damage On Snake’s Body
As noted on the game’s website, this new battle system will ensure that every player will have a unique gameplay experience in Metal Gear Solid Delta, with Snake himself looking strikingly different after each playthrough and his body telling the story of what he went through during the iconic Virtuous Mission. It could also be used as a self-imposed challenge for some players, as they could try to make it through the game without damaging Snake too much.
So far, fan reactions to this announcement have been overwhelmingly positive, with many players feeling that it falls right in line with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima’s penchant for adding creative gameplay touches to his projects. Others have joked that their version of Snake will look especially banged up after playing through Metal Gear Solid Delta thanks to this new battle damage system. Recent rumors suggest that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater could launch this November, but nothing official has been confirmed yet.
