A brand-new survey has just been sent to some Xbox owners, asking them what they’d do if the company decided to make all of its future first-party games console-exclusive. While this latest survey does ask fans how they’d feel if every future Xbox game was exclusive, a handful of franchises are highlighted specifically, such as Minecraft, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls.

Towards the latter half of Phil Spencer’s tenure as Xbox CEO, the company began to experiment with a multi-platform approach. This began with games like Pentiment, Grounded, and Hi-Fi Rush in early 2024, and continued throughout 2025 with games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Gears of War: Reloaded, and Forza Horizon 5. But since Asha Sharma’s appointment as Xbox’s new CEO, the brakes have seemingly been pulled on that multi-platform strategy.

New Xbox Survey Asks Fans What They’d Do if Fallout, Minecraft, and Others Were Xbox Exclusive

A new Microsoft survey is reportedly making its way to the inboxes of some Xbox Insider members. Leaked images of this survey were recently sent to Windows Central, and the outlet has confirmed them to be genuine. Generally, the purpose of this latest Microsoft survey is to ask players where they’d play a range of first-party titles if they were to become full Xbox console exclusives.

Two images of the survey were shared by Windows Central. In one, Xbox Insiders are asked to imagine a scenario in which it was announced all future Fallout games will be exclusive to Xbox consoles and no longer available on PlayStation or Nintendo. The survey expressly states, however, that pre-existing Fallout games would remain unchanged by this theoretical announcement and that it wouldn’t affect PC.

Xbox Insiders are then asked where they’re “most likely” to play future Fallout games if they became exclusive. Players are given six answers to choose from, including “On an existing Xbox I own,” “On a new Xbox Series X/S I would decide to purchase,” “On a PC,” and “I would skip playing because it would now be unavailable on my preferred console.” Windows Central also mentions that The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Diablo, and Hideo Kojima’s Physint were all given their own version of this question.

The second image shared by Windows Central shows the final question of the survey, which asks Xbox Insiders where they’re most likely to play if “all future title releases from every Xbox-developed gaming franchise” were fully console-exclusive. Here, it’s once again specified that already-released titles would be unaffected, aside from Minecraft, which would still be available on all platforms in its current version, but would receive no future updates in this hypothetical scenario. Of course, Xbox conducting this survey doesn’t necessarily mean it plans to make all of its future first-party releases console-exclusive, but given its decision to do just that with Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution, it’s certainly a possibility.
