Midnight Players Think Blizzard is Teasing New Content for Its Next Update

World of Warcraft may have just teased one of the zones planned for a future Midnight content patch, as some players pointed out that an inaccessible troll-themed area can be flown to before the game warns players to turn back. This new World of Warcraft zone may offer a clue as to what Blizzard has planned for Midnight in the coming months.

Currently, World of Warcraft: Midnight is available in early access for users who purchased the Epic Edition for $89.99. World of Warcraft: Midnight is the second chapter of the ongoing Worldsoul Saga and picks up immediately where The War Within left off. Along with a return to the Quel’thalas region, World of Warcraft: Midnight also takes players to Harandar, the roots-covered home of the bat-like Harandir race. Once certain story criteria are met, players can then launch an assault on the Voidstorm, a hostile environment that serves as a hub for some of Midnight‘s endgame activities.

World of Warcraft reveals some cosmetic rewards for Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm that fans can get just by playing the Midnight expansion.

World of Warcraft: Midnight May Already Have Its Next Zone

Ahead of the full release of World of Warcraft: Midnight, players quickly discovered that a zone that was first teased during the expansion’s closed beta test could still be in the cards for a future patch. This zone is called Atal’Utek and is currently inaccessible for players who fly too close to it. According to a post from Aggnicia_MightyGnome on the World of Warcraft subreddit, players can get a glimpse of Atal’Utek before the game forces them out of the area. Further proof can be found about Atal’Utek being a new zone via the game’s chat log, as Atal’Utek already has General and Local Defense chat channels in the game. However, players who stray too close to Atal’Utek will be met with a “Coiling Suffocation” debuff before being removed from the zone. Other Reddit users indicated that, thanks to the Far Sight spell that Shaman players can use, Atal’Utek is currently an empty zone covered in poison.

Atal’Utek can currently be seen from the east coast of Zul’Aman, one of Midnight‘s four leveling zones. Given that the bridge between Atal’Utek and Zul’Aman proper has been split in half, flight is currently the only way Atal’Utek can be accessed from Zul’Aman. Although Zul’Aman first appeared as a raid in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, Midnight expanded on the forest home of the Amani troll tribe and elaborated on the Amani tribe’s territorial conflict with the blood elves. Although not much else about Atal’Utek can currently be gleaned in-game, some WoW players responded to Aggnicia_MightyGnome’s post with their theories about the dangers that this new zone could have. One guess stated that Atal’Utek is named after Ula-Tek, a serpent Loa that was once worshiped by the Amani trolls. With World of Warcraft: Midnight focused mainly on threats from the Void, it remains to be seen how Atal’Utek will fall into Blizzard’s plans.

World of Warcraft’s Plans are Still Subject to Change

Given that World of Warcraft: Midnight has already posted a potential 2026 roadmap, players stated that Atal’Utek could be the location of a future raid as early as Patch 12.1. With World of Warcraft already revealing most of its plans up to Patch 12.0.7, the rest of Midnight‘s 2026 content slate remains a complete mystery. Ergo, a troll-themed raid in Atal’Utek is a possible scenario that Blizzard could expand upon in a future content patch. But, given that Blizzard’s plans are still subject to change pending player feedback, WoW players should take any information about Atal’Utek with a fine grain of salt.

With the raids of World of Warcraft: Midnight already full of surprises, a potential Amani troll raid would add some variety to the Void-themed expansion. However, time will tell what Blizzard’s plans are for Atal’Utek.
