MindsEye Dev Lays Off More Staff While Blaming ‘Criminal Activities’

No, you’re not trapped in some sort of Groundhog Day-like timeloop: the date is March 4, 2026, and the co-CEO of MindsEye’s developer Build a Rocket Boy is once again blaming “organised espionage and corporate sabotage” for the studio’s latest wave of redundancies.

The co-CEO of Build a Rocket Boy, Mark Gerhard, announced that an unspecified number of employees have been made redundant in a post on LinkedIn. “Today we are announcing a further number of redundancies at the studio. This is a deeply painful decision. The people leaving our team have invested enormous talent, passion and long hours into building what we believe in. Letting colleagues go is never something any leader wants to do, and I know the impact this will have on individuals, families and our wider community.”

However, Gerhard shifted the blame for the redundancies onto the “criminal activities” that supposedly impacted MindsEye’s launch. “Over the past months we have been working with external partners and legal advisors to investigate the criminal activity that took place around our launch. That work has taken far longer than expected, but it has now resulted in overwhelming evidence of organised espionage and corporate sabotage affecting MindsEye. Because this matter is moving toward prosecution, we cannot share the full details publicly yet.”

This is assumedly in reference to the leaked internal meeting reported by Insider Gaming last month, during which Gerhard reportedly stated that a “bunch of gangsters” at a “very big American company” named Ritual Network engineered a smear campaign against MindsEye. For context, Ritual Network is actually a relatively small PR company for TikTok and YouTube creators based in Scunthorpe, England.

On January 31, Gerhard also posted on the official MindsEye Discord that he’d be issuing the YouTuber Cyber Boi with a “cease and desist,” roughly 18 minutes after Cyber  Boi released a video titled “Leslie Benzies is in the Epstein Files.” For further context, Cyber Boi was formerly involved with Ritual Network in some capacity. We’ll have to wait and see how this all develops when/if Build a Rocket Boy officially moves toward the “prosecution” stage.
