MindsEye Releases New Blacklisted Update and Gets Permanent Price Drop

Build A Rocket Boy, the developer and now independent publisher of MindsEye, has released a major new content update for the controversial title, which allows fans to play as Julia Black, a world-class assassin on a mission in Redrock City. Alongside the April 28 update, Build A Rocket Boy has also permanently lowered the price of MindsEye across all platforms. The price cut has taken immediate effect and brings the cost down to $34.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

After one of the worst video game launches in history, IOI Partners returned the publishing rights for MindsEye back to its development studio, Build A Rocket Boy, back in March. This means the studio is now completely independent, which has allowed Build A Rocket Boy to lower the price of MindsEye across all platforms. According to a new press release, a permanent price reduction for the title will allow players to purchase the Standard Edition for $34.99 USD and the Deluxe Edition for $17.99 USD, while the standalone upgrade price is now $17.99 USD. This reduction has already taken effect on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

MindsEye Was So Bad That IO May Be Done Publishing Other Developers’ Games

The CEO of MindsEye publisher IO Interactive reflects on the game’s tragic launch and expresses doubt over the studio’s future in publishing.

MindsEye Releases New Blacklisted Update

Alongside an unexpected price reduction, Build A Rocket Boy has also released a brand-new update for MindsEye with the long-awaited Blacklisted content. Fans can now play as Julia Black, who is a world-class assassin on a mission to Redrock City to eliminate two key targets. Black works for the Meridian agency, which is simultaneously being attacked from outside and within. Players must make use of Julia’s many skills to infiltrate a criminal network and stop a deadly deal. Blacklisted features a world of espionage, deceit, and sabotage, and is available to download right now on all supported platforms. The patch also includes some further improvements and bug fixes, the details of which can be found in the official 7.1 patch notes further down this article.

Blacklisted also gives players an insight into the alleged internal sabotage that occurred during the launch of MindsEye. After releasing the worst-reviewed game of 2025, Build A Rocket Boy CEO Mark Gerhard claimed that there had been corporate sabotage from both internal and external parties in an effort to smear the studio’s name and its first title. Gerhard revealed earlier this year that the studio has also been working with a third-party and legal advisors to investigate the supposed criminal activity, and that the investigation uncovered “overwhelming evidence of organised espionage and corporate sabotage.” He later confirmed that the Blacklisted mission, which is now available, will share some of the evidence of the sabotage with the community.

Build A Rocket Boy is now facing legal action from MindsEye developers after executives allegedly made the decision to install monitoring software on employees’ computers without their knowledge or consent. The software, known as Teramind, reportedly allowed Build A Rocket Boy to record nearly everything that developers were doing on their computers. From individual key strokes to microphone audio, Teramind allegedly gave the studio full access to oversee its employees discreetly, which the developers say violates both data protection laws and the workforce’s basic dignity. While Build A Rocket Boy apparently removed the software in March after 40 employees protested against it, it has yet to reveal what it has done with the collected data.

This comes at the same time as more layoffs hit MindsEye studio Build A Rocket Boy, as more redundancies were made last month. The exact number of employees affected by the layoffs was not confirmed, but a statement from CEO Mark Gerhard called it a “deeply painful decision” and cited increasing pressure on the video games industry over the last few years as the reason for the additional layoffs.

Bug Fixes

BUILD ARCADIA – (PC)

Improvements

Logic Nodes (New Logic Objects & Nodes)

– Added the ‘Point of Interest’ node. This node can be used to make Players and NPCs automatically look at an object in close vicinity or a point of interest in a given area.

– Introduced the ‘Get Weapon Status’ and ‘On Weapon Status Changed’ nodes. These nodes allow players to understand whether any actor currently has their weapon drawn or holstered and automatically trigger whenever an actor draws or holsters their weapon.

– Added the ‘NPC Ambient Voice’ node. This node gives the player the ability to turn on or off the ambient shouts and SFX for specified NPC actors.

Logic Nodes (Logic Objects & Nodes Improvements)

– Added an ‘On Interact Failed’ nodule to the ‘Interact’ node. Updated the ‘Event’ node, ‘Objective UI’ node, and ‘Blip’ node so that when they are removed by a ‘Remove’ node, the nodes mentioned are removed – they were not previously.

– The ‘On Player Weapon’ node and the ‘On Actor Weapon Shot’ node have a new property to listen to a specific weapon or weapon type being shot. The nodes listen to all weapons by default.

– The ‘AR Blip’ node has received new icons. A Drone icon, a Question mark icon, and a new white Objective Diamond icon.

– The ‘Custom Camera’ node now sends a notification in the ARCADIA Log after its transition has finished and the player exits the camera.

– Added a checkbox on AI and AI Advanced Spawners that allows the player to choose whether the AI spawns with their weapons drawn.

– Improvements have been made to the ‘Stamp Spawner’ node.

– The ‘Drone Ability Target Volume’ can now be attached via the ‘Attach’ node to Actors.

– AI Behaviour via the Patrol Node has been improved.

Bug Fixes

Logic

– Fixed an issue where, on some Logic Nodes, the dropdown menu would fail to select the default option if it was not modified.
