Minecraft Player Spends 2 Years Building Huge Favela in the Game

After two years of work, a Minecraft player has shared the massive favela that they created in the game. While the favela was made on the 20-year-old hardware of the Xbox 360, the Minecraft player’s build was impressive, earning them praise from fans online.

Minecraft has been around for a long time, and thanks to its low system requirements, the game has been ported to many consoles. Among the first to get an edition of the game was Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in 2012. The Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition brought the burgeoning open-world title to a new platform and included splitscreen and online multiplayer, a tutorial mode, and more. While this edition no longer receives new updates from Mojang, it has left fond memories with nostalgic fans who enjoyed the earlier years of the game.

Minecraft Fan Plays the Game Via Printed Screenshots

A Minecraft fan is trying to get through the game with no monitor or screen, relying purely on periodically printed screenshots of the game.

Minecraft Player Builds Huge Favela Inspired By Brazil

Even though Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition no longer receives new content, some players continue to revisit the classic version. One of these players is Nooosszaaa on Reddit, who created an incredible favela in the game. For reference, a favela is a conglomeration of homes usually on a hillside, often found in Brazil. Despite their hardware limitations, they utilized the Minecraft blocks they had in their version of the game to replicate the real-life urban settlement, and the result was impressive.

As seen in the screenshots from Nooosszaaa, the Minecraft build featured numerous buildings placed in close proximity to each other. In addition, the player built the settlement on a hillside. This not only reflected what a real-life favela looks like, but it also provided a better view of the project. Notably, the build included many different types of houses, adding variety to the overall design. For example, some structures were taller than others, while the colors of the walls varied. When sharing the favela on the Minecraft subreddit, Nooosszaaa shared their inspiration for the project. The player wanted to capture the “surreal feeling” they experienced when standing on their street looking at “the hill with dozens of stacked houses.” The final design even included a Brazilian flag, revealing the country the idea was based on.

This favela design has been a hit on the game’s subreddit, with more than 3.2K users upvoting the post so far. In the comments, many players were impressed with the work Nooosszaaa put into the project. According to the creator, the shared screenshots represented two years of work. While they said the design was based on favelas of São Paulo, they thought it was potentially the biggest one made in Minecraft, an opinion many fans agreed with. Furthermore, they revealed that the project was not even complete and noted that some of the houses even have interiors.

This massive favela made Nooosszaaa is only one of the many Minecraft creations that have been showcased on places like Reddit. While the game continues to get new blocks that add even more customization options for players, it is impressive to see what players can come up with on older editions of the game. Fewer features can sometimes force a player to come up with more creative and visually striking alternatives to make an idea work.

Minecraft is Still Getting New Content

While some fans, like Nooosszaaa, continue to play on older versions of the game, Mojang recently brought new features to the current versions of Minecraft via Mounts of Mayhem. This latest game drop introduced a variety of new mobs for players to ride, such as the Nautilus, which can move at high speed underwater. Furthermore, the update added the Spear, a new tiered weapon that excels in mounted combat.

With 2025 almost over, it will be interesting to see what is planned for the game in the coming year. Mojang will doubtlessly add more content to Minecraft through game drops, and players could use these features to improve their builds even further.
