Modern Warfare 4 Now Has Wallhacks

Modern Warfare 4 Now Has Wallhacks

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 players have found they can essentially give themselves wallhacks using one of the game’s most powerful new weapon attachments. This discovery comes as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 introduces several changes to the series’ traditional multiplayer formula, including new progression systems, movement options, and weapon customization features.

These wallhack-style effects come from Modern Warfare 4‘s new Apex Attachment system, which takes the traditional Call of Duty Gunsmith feature considerably further than simple improvements to recoil, range, or handling. Apex Attachments are unlocked as the final progression reward for supported weapons and can fundamentally change how those guns function without occupying a normal attachment slot. Infinity Ward has confirmed 28 Apex Attachments for the full game, including modifications that introduce alternate firing modes, specialized ammunition, and other significant abilities. The system gives players a stronger incentive to fully level their weapons, but it also raises difficult balancing questions once those rewards begin to provide advantages beyond traditional stat improvements.

Modern Warfare 4 is Already the Best Call of Duty in Years

After spending a weekend with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta, it’s safe to say it’s set to be the best entry the series has seen in years.

Modern Warfare 4 Just Made Wallhacks an Actual Game Mechanic

One of the most striking examples is the ISO Trace Apex Attachment for the ISO Nightshade SMG. Players must fully level the weapon to 56 before unlocking the modification, which equips it with specialized RFID ammunition that marks an opponent whenever a shot connects. A display built into the weapon’s optics then shows the tagged player’s position and movement, even if the enemy goes behind cover afterward. In practice, someone retreating around a corner can still be tracked long enough for the ISO Nightshade user to anticipate whether they are running away, stopping, or preparing to re-engage. The attachment does reduce bullet velocity and penetration as a trade-off, but with a huge gain. Fans should note this is an intentional Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer mechanic, not an exploit or third-party cheat.

The attachment could become even more interesting as players experiment with it in Call of Duty: Warzone. Information about an opponent’s position can be extremely valuable in Warzone, where higher health means players have more opportunities to survive an initial engagement and retreat behind cover. Tagging an opponent before that happens could make finishing a fight significantly easier, particularly when teammates can capitalize on the information. The ISO Nightshade’s close-range focus and ISO Trace’s stated drawbacks should prevent it from providing an advantage in every situation, but its usefulness in Call of Duty: Warzone could ultimately depend on how easily players can maintain those tags.

More broadly, the ISO Trace highlights the balancing challenge Infinity Ward is creating for itself with Apex Attachments. Giving players substantial rewards for fully leveling weapons could make progression more meaningful, particularly if each upgrade creates a genuinely different way to use a gun. However, an attachment that provides information unavailable to players using the base weapon risks feeling less like an optional customization choice and more like something competitive players are expected to equip. The same problem could emerge with other Modern Warfare 4 Apex Attachments if their unique abilities become significantly more useful than conventional loadout options and the whole starts to center around them.

The timing is also somewhat ironic, given Activision’s increasingly aggressive campaign against actual cheating in Modern Warfare 4, which arrives alongside another major RICOCHET Anti-Cheat push, while Activision has recently targeted cheat developers and sellers through direct legal action. ISO Trace obviously operates under different rules, since players must first land a shot and accept its built-in drawbacks, but the ability to legitimately track an opponent through a wall is still unusual for a series that goes out of its way to prevent it. With the beta allowing Infinity Ward to make adjustments, Modern Warfare 4 weapon balance may ultimately determine whether ISO Trace remains an interesting progression reward or becomes one of the game’s most controversial loadout choices.
