While players have been able to get early access to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign, there’s a way to get a head-start on the multiplayer progression ahead of the game’s official launch on October 23. There’s plenty of excitement in the air already ahead of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 release, as the campaign access has been widely praised, leaving many to anticipate what could be coming in the other multiplayer and DMZ game modes.
Picking up where the previous game left off, players pick back up with Captain Price, who is now on the run and seeking vengeance. However, alongside Price’s mission, players will be experiencing a globe-trotting adventure after the Korean Peninsula is thrown into chaos after the north invades. So far, it seems players and critics have had plenty of positive things to say about the Modern Warfare 4 campaign, though many are keeping an eye towards later this week when the full game opens. However, there are always a few that may be looking to take advantage of some early access time in order to start progressing their account.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Early Multiplayer Progression
For many Call of Duty fans, the fast-paced multiplayer modes are a big draw and for now, access doesn’t begin until Friday, October 23 arrives. Although it’s still a few days away, at the time of publication, there’s a way to get a jump start on that progression a little early. Starting today, October 20, Modern Warfare 4‘s revamped DMZ experience is going live through Early Access. For those that have digitally pre-ordered the game, they’ll be able to jump in earlier than everyone else still waiting for the full launch later this week.

What many may not have realized is that DMZ allows players to not only rank up their Player and Weapon XP, but it also impacts Rank XP as well. What this means is that for those who start playing and ranking up today, they’ll have their overall Rank XP leveled up for the multiplayer unlock when that kicks off officially on October 23. Those progression levels will help get players closer to new multiplayer unlocks as well as Modern Warfare 4‘s new take on the Prestige System.
Originally making its debut back in 2022 in Modern Warfare 2, the DMZ game mode largely failed to make an impact, with fans flocking back to the multiplayer and Warzone game modes. However, Infinity Ward is giving the mode another shot as Modern Warfare 4 features a fully revamped DMZ. Set after the game’s campaign, this DMZ mode features improved enemy AI, a fully overhauled FOB progression system, as well as letting players approach the gameplay how they want through dedicated story missions, dynamic side content, as well as the ability to just free roam.
For those curious, unlike multiplayer, DMZ lets players advance to level 77, with each one unlocking new rewards, some being a bit more important than others. Inside of Modern Warfare 4‘s FOB Station inside DMZ, players can prepare their loadouts inside this hub location. While there are plenty of basic features unlocked at the start, including a Firing Range, and Mission Directives, players can unlock more features by progressing their overall DMZ ranking. There are resources like a 3D printer unlocked at Rank 2, while the Gunsmith becomes available at Rank 10, and there’s even a Dog Tag Case at Rank 20, letting players proudly display any collected dog tags from defeated enemy players and operatives.
