Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 players might be unintentionally hindering their gameplay by leaving one setting on by default. Multiplayer PvP is a huge part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s gameplay offerings, taking up the majority of the game’s modes outside of the singleplayer campaign. As such, players will want every advantage they can get going up against others in multiplayer and DMZ game modes.
The general consensus seems to be that Modern Warfare 4 is a return to form for Call of Duty after last year’s Black Ops 7 failed to make an impact. Between a memorable campaign and robust multiplayer offerings, Modern Warfare 4 offers Call of Duty fans nearly everything they could want. However, that doesn’t mean the game isn’t in need of some tweaks, one of which players can do themselves to get a competitive edge over their opponents.
Modern Warfare 4 Players Should Change This ADS Setting ASAP
A change to the game’s ADS settings could drastically change the speed at which Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 players using a controller can snap from target to target while aiming down sights. Shared to Facebook by Parasite COD, this tip recommends that Modern Warfare 4 players change the default ADS setting from Instant to either Gradual or After Zoom. Doing so should reduce the delay in camera movement speed when transitioning from aiming down sights while moving the right thumbstick.
- Quick Settings > ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing > Gradual
The difference between Instant and Gradual ADS is almost night and day, completely removing the “sticky” feeling of the camera when transitioning from aiming down sights, allowing players to quickly switch targets with ease during a match. When timing is the difference between scoring a kill and getting eliminated in Modern Warfare 4‘s DMZ or multiplayer modes, getting even a split-second advantage on an opponent is critical. If players feel like they are always slow on the draw when trying to take down multiple enemies, then Paraside COD recommends changing ADS to Gradual.
Even with this settings change, Modern Warfare 4‘s multiplayer woes won’t be solved entirely. Many players are still lamenting Modern Warfare 4‘s high time to kill, claiming that the game’s TTK is closer to the Black Ops games than the Modern Warfare reboot series. The result makes Modern Warfare 4 simultaneously have a high TTK while having a low time to death, which can feel like players are getting killed before they even realize they are being shot at.
Moreover, Call of Duty fans are unhappy with Modern Warfare 4‘s skill-based matchmaking, complaining that they are unfairly being put against players far above their skill level. While skill-based matchmaking is supposed to make Call of Duty matches more balanced, it also makes it much harder for players to keep a high K/D ratio when forced to play against other “try-hard” or “sweaty” players. Despite these criticisms, the Modern Warfare 4 package as a whole steps it up in the multiplayer department by offering a wide variety of game modes at launch, allowing players to bounce between them should one start to feel too frustrating.
