More People Play Roblox Than the Entirety of PlayStation and Steam Combined

A new report reveals that Roblox‘s impressive player counts top the combined totals for both PlayStation and Steam, boasting millions of active players. The massively popular game creation platform has seen some major growth throughout the past year, with some of its player-developed games, like Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot, achieving huge numbers. Grow a Garden has even rivaled some of the most popular modern games with its spike in players over the past year, with the Roblox farming sim amassing similar player counts to Fortnite. Much of Roblox‘s success can also be attributed to the variety of games available on the platform.

Roblox offers a plethora of unique experiences for gamers across its many different games, with everything from simulations to shooters available. From laid-back farming sims like Grow a Garden to racing games like Motor Legends, the gaming platform offers no shortage of things to do, all within a free-to-play environment. Roblox has even featured some official crossover games with popular franchises like KPop Demon Hunters, Rabbids, and Sesame Street among plenty others. Now, the recent success of Roblox has seen the game’s player counts rise to some of the highest across the entire gaming industry.

Disney Reveals Why It Won’t Work With Roblox, and the Reason Isn’t Exactly Surprising

Disney has made it clear that it has no intention of working with Roblox, and the reason why is more obvious than one may think.

Roblox Beats Out PlayStation and Steam Player Counts

  • Roblox Average Monthly Engagement: ~10.3 billion hours
  • Steam Average Monthly Engagement: ~5.1 billion hours
  • PlayStation Average Monthly Engagement: ~4.3 billion hours

A recent report shared by gaming insider Matthew Ball reveals just how popular Roblox has gotten, topping entire gaming marketplaces. A chart comparing active player engagement counts shows that Roblox‘s numbers stand higher than the combined totals for PlayStation and Steam. The massively popular platform even nearly boasts more than the totals for the two marketplaces and Fortnite, with more than 10 billion hours of monthly engagement throughout 2025. Roblox‘s astounding player engagement numbers are more than double the total for PlayStation from 2024, with Sony bringing in between 4 and 4.5 billion hours every month.

Roblox‘s success doesn’t stop at its overall engagement, with individual games achieving success comparable to some of today’s biggest titles. Grow a Garden‘s 10-month average sees over 0.7 billion hours of monthly engagement, putting the game not far behind Counter-Strike and ahead of Blizzard’s entire game library. Others like the previously-mentioned Steal a Brainrot and 99 Nights in the Forest are not far behind, with both boasting more than 0.6 billion hours of monthly engagement and beating out Dota 2. Grow a Garden‘s individual numbers even put the game only roughly 0.15 billion hours behind Fortnite‘s totals.

The overwhelming popularity of Roblox has put the game and its developer firmly in the spotlight throughout the past year. Roblox revealed during a Developer’s Conference in late 2025 that the game was averaging more than 100 million active players every single day, with creators earning over $1 billion USD over the previous year. Roblox has also begun to make moves to crack down on child safety concerns within the game, following recent trends across the gaming industry by implementing age verification software in Roblox. Roblox Corporation has even taken steps to block children from communicating with adults entirely within the game creation platform.

All Paranormal Codes

Roblox‘s meteoric rise has not been without its fair share of controversy, though, as the game navigates the tricky business of ensuring child safety. The game has been the subject of numerous lawsuits regarding its security protocols for children, often suggesting that Roblox does not do enough to protect kids using the platform. Some countries have even taken their measures a step further, including Egypt recently banning Roblox entirely within the region, citing concerns about the game’s impact on both morals and its educational value for children. Roblox‘s recent controversies have seemingly done little to impact the game’s meteoric rise, as more players jump into the immersive creation platform every month.
