Naughty Dog has finally broken its silence around Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. While Naughty Dog has confirmed that fans won’t be seeing any more of its upcoming sci-fi action-adventure game this year, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will receive its full unveiling in 2027.
Initially revealed during the 2024 Game Awards, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is the next AAA action-adventure game from Last of Us and Uncharted studio Naughty Dog. For the first time since the Jak series, Naughty Dog is returning to a sci-fi setting with Intergalactic, one that seems to be adopting a retrofuturistic aesthetic, based solely on the game’s reveal trailer. Little has been officially revealed about Intergalactic at the time of writing, only that players will assume the role of bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, who gets stranded on a planet that’s been cut off from the rest of the galaxy for 600 years.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s Next Reveal is Set for 2027
It’s been almost 22 months since fans last saw Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in an official capacity, but Naughty Dog has finally broken the radio silence surrounding the game. To close out its 2026 Last of Us Day celebrations, Naughty Dog studio head and Intergalactic director and writer Neil Druckmann released a public statement regarding the future of the studio and the projects it currently has in development.

In this statement, Druckmann calls Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet “Naughty Dog’s most ambitious game yet,” and says that there’s an “electricity” in the studio right now as all the pieces of the game are beginning to come together. But Druckmann quickly warns readers that the team still needs to “cook for just a little longer.”

In an attempt to “set expectations,” Druckmann confirms that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will not be shown at all this year. But in 2027, Naughty Dog will “fully reveal” Intergalactic, and give fans a “proper look” at the sci-fi adventure. Druckmann ends the statement by thanking the community and saying that the developers “don’t take [fans’] continued support for granted.” A brand-new Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet screenshot is attached at the bottom of the statement.
There’s currently no details on exactly when or where Naughty Dog will show Intergalactic next year. The most likely place for a full Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet reveal is a 2027 PlayStation State of Play, given the game’s nature as a first-party PlayStation product. There’s no way to know exactly when PlayStation will host a State of Play next year, but more often than not, there’s one every February and September, and often at least two in between.
During the same Last of Us Day public announcement, Neil Druckmann officially confirmed that two brand-new Last of Us projects are also in the works. These two projects are reportedly in the very early stages of development, and the only concrete information that Druckmann lets slip is that both projects will “expand the canon” beyond The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2.
