New Battlefield 6 Update is Causing Major Problems

New Battlefield 6 Update is Causing Major Problems

The latest Battlefield 6 update, released on December 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, seems to have caused severe performance issues for many players, as much of the community is now reporting stuttering problems following the release of patch 1.1.3.0. The new Battlefield 6 update was the final content patch for Season 1, adding tons of new content to the title, while also making plenty of fixes and improvements. Unfortunately, despite addressing many existing problems, the update appears to have brought more issues along with it.

As part of continued support for Battlefield 6 Season 1, DICE officially launched the new Winter Offensive update on December 9. The free update not only brought tons of gameplay adjustments, bug fixes, and general improvements to the latest entry in the series, but also tons of content for fans to check out. The most notable addition is the winter-themed version of Empire State, which features frozen streets and seasonal environmental visuals. There’s also a new Ice Climbing Axe Melee weapon, which can be unlocked via the Winter Offensive Bonus Path, and a new time-limited Multiplayer and Gauntlet mode, which is a themed event mode playable across Domination, Conquest, and Gauntlet mission variations on Ice Lock Empire State featuring the event-limited ‘Freeze’ mechanic.

Battlefield 6’s Most Immersion-Breaking Features Show Why BF1 is Still King of Immersion

Despite Battlefield 6 being a huge success this year, BF1 still boasts a level of immersion that remains hard to fully replicate.

Battlefield 6 Has a Serious Stuttering Problem

Unfortunately, despite the many fixes and overall improvements, the most recent Battlefield 6 update has seemingly caused a pretty major problem for some players. Numerous posts have begun appearing on social media websites such as Reddit and Twitter, as fans complain of “noticeable stuttering” following the release of patch 1.1.3.0 on December 9. Twitter user and content creator TriggerBF says they have 400 hours of playtime in Battlefield 6, with zero performance issues during that time. However, after updating the game earlier today, they now experience FPS stutters every 5-20 seconds. Thankfully, Principal Game Designer for DICE, Florian, responded to the issue and said the team is currently investigating.

Sadly, it looks like this isn’t the only problem that has emerged after today’s update. Reddit user Due-Dingo-4051 took to Reddit shortly after the patch was released to show the community how there now appears to be a bizarre issue with Battlefield 6‘s hit registration while in the Firing Range. The clip posted by the user shows them firing next to, but not at, the Firing Range dummies. Although they are clearly missing their shots, they still appear to be registering. But what makes this even stranger is that DICE says today’s update has improved hit registration across situations that previously felt unreliable, including quick aim adjustments, firing before a zoom completes, and close-quarters fights with many players. The studio says these changes should make bullet impacts more predictable and damage feedback easier to read in the moment.

This wasn’t the only significant improvement detailed in the patch notes for update 1.1.3.0 either, as DICE says it has also enhanced close-range soldier visibility, refined weapon handling for more consistent accuracy, improved reliability across several core gadgets, strengthened vehicle clarity and interaction, updated Breakthrough and Rush layouts on multiple maps, and delivered a broad audio pass in order to improve combat readability.

As DICE has already confirmed it’s investigating the issue with stuttering following today’s update, it hopefully shouldn’t be long before players receive a hotfix. As for new content, though, patch 1.1.3.0 was officially the final major patch for Season 1, which means fans will likely need to wait until the next seasonal update for new maps, modes, weapons, and more.

The studio has yet to reveal any official details surrounding Battlefield 6 Season 2, but rumors suggest it will begin sometime in January 2026. Leaks have also given fans an idea of what to expect in terms of weapons and vehicles, as it has been claimed that the MG5 LMG, CZ Bren 2 Assault Rifle, the fan favorite AH-6 Little Bird Helicopter, and more could return.
