Xbox Game Pass subscribers still have plenty of day one games to look forward to in 2026, but they now have yet another game to look forward to in 2027 as well. Xbox Game Pass has been the core of Microsoft’s gaming strategy for years now, with the company ensuring that the subscription service always has a steady supply of brand-new game releases.

2026 has seen plenty of noteworthy day one games added to Xbox Game Pass, including one of the highest-rated games of the year so far in the form of open world racer Forza Horizon 6. Before 2026 is out, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get to play many more day one games, including first-party titles like Halo: Campaign Evolved in July and Gears of War: E-Day in October. 2027 is already taking shape as well, especially now that yet another game has been confirmed for the lineup.

Xbox Adding New Flexible Game Pass Options

It appears that Microsoft’s flagship gaming subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, could receive more flexible options as soon as summer 2026.

Bad Magpie is Coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on Day 1

One of the more low-key announcements at the recent Xbox Games Showcase was the reveal of Bad Magpie, a cute cozy game that will also be released on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass the day of its release in 2027. In Bad Magpie, players take on the role of a mischievous, one-winged magpie as they go around causing chaos and solving puzzles. The aesthetic and general vibes of the game are reminiscent of titles like A Short Hike and Untitled Goose Game, and it looks like it could very well be a standout indie hit when it releases next year. Being able to play through the game in its entirety with a Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription should ensure that more people give it a chance than would otherwise, and hopefully it helps Bad Magpie live up to its full potential.

I am personally very excited to see more of Bad Magpie and can’t wait to play it myself through Game Pass next year, but it’s not the only 2027 game confirmed for the service. Perhaps the biggest day one Game Pass game confirmed for 2027 so far is the Fable reboot, which was originally scheduled to launch in 2026 but was ultimately delayed to February 23, 2027. The Fable reboot looks incredibly impressive and is developed by Playground Games, the studio behind the acclaimed Forza Horizon series, so it should make for one of the more exciting Game Pass games releasing next year.

Other 2027 Xbox Game Pass games include Stranger Than Heaven on January 15 and Persona 4 Revival on February 18. The newly-revealed Spyro: A Realm Beyond will also be released as a day one Game Pass game when it launches next spring, though a specific release date has not been announced at the time of this writing.

Bad Magpie also doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but more information on that front should come to light in the months ahead. In the meantime, there are still plenty of new Xbox Game Pass games for 2026 for fans to look forward to while they wait to learn more about next year’s offerings.
