Final Fantasy 14 players have a small patch to download the next time they log in, as Square Enix released a lengthy list of hotfixes associated with its recent Patch 7.5 content update. Some of the issues that the Final Fantasy 14 development team addressed ranged from accessibility concerns to bugs that prevented quest progress from being made.
The latest round of hotfixes came just over a week after Final Fantasy 14‘s 7.5 update, Trail to the Heavens, went live across the globe. Patch 7.5 is just the first of four key updates Square Enix has planned throughout the spring and summer of 2026. Along with new main story content and a new alliance raid, the 7.5 content patch also laid the groundwork for the battle content and features that players can expect to see in Evercold. Final Fantasy 14: Evercold launches sometime in January 2027, and players can anticipate to learn more information about it during the Berlin and Tokyo FanFest events later this year.
Final Fantasy 14 Players Are Not Happy With The Jollibee Collab
Some Final Fantasy 14 players claim they are having issues with the Jollibee collaboration event and are raising concerns on social media.
Final Fantasy 14 Releases Some Hotfixes for Patch 7.5’s Key Issues
While Final Fantasy 14‘s 7.5 update made some Job balance adjustments, it also brought some underlying bugs to light. A week after Patch 7.5’s arrival, Final Fantasy 14 released a hotfix update for players to download following an overnight server maintenance window. Some key issues with Patch 7.5 concerning the alliance raid Windurst: The Third Walk were addressed, which had to do with Promathia, the third boss of the new raid. Promathia’s battle arena was altered after players reported motion sickness and disorientation during the encounter. An additional bug was squashed that could prevent players from seeing their screen if they returned to the alliance raid’s starting point shortly after Promathia was defeated.
Some odd translation errors were also addressed with Patch 7.5’s hotfixes, which saw some NPC dialogue display in Japanese text rather than in English. This is similar to a translation issue that occurred in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.16 in January 2025, in which a certain NPC’s dialogue did not display English text correctly. Additionally, the “Senor Otter Pack” is no longer available since it was mistakenly released ahead of the 2026 Make It Rain Campaign set to begin in late May. Square Enix said that the backpack will be available once again during the Make It Campaign and asked players to wait until the event goes live.
Final Fantasy 14’s Latest Issues Could Not Go Unchecked
One of the biggest bugs that was addressed by Final Fantasy 14‘s new hotfixes concerned the Hildibrand quest chain, namely during the quest “Meteorites and Meteor-wrongs” that was introduced with Patch 7.45 in March. After the final cutscene of the quest faded to black, the screen would stay black and prevent progress from being made. Given that Hildibrand will receive additional quests in Patch 7.55, which will arrive on July 28, the questing bug would have prevented some FF14 players from experiencing the upcoming adventure had it gone unaddressed.

Other issues related to minions, glamours, and dyes were also fixed with Final Fantasy 14‘s latest update. With Final Fantasy 14 set to launch on Switch 2 in August, how many other bugs and issues are currently on the development team’s radar remains to be seen.
Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.5 Hotfixes (May 7, 2026)
In Windurst: The Third Walk, the appearance of the battlefield during the battle against Promathia has been updated.
The following issues have been addressed:
- An issue when undertaking the Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures quest “Meteorites and Meteor-wrongs,” introduced in Patch 7.45, wherein, after the final cutscene fades to black, the screen remains black, and the quest cannot be completed.
- An issue wherein some NPC dialogue will display in Japanese during certain parts of the Patch 7.5 main scenario quests.
- In Housing, when you set up a second patch, there are cases where, under certain conditions, you will no longer be able to target the first patch that has already been set up. If this issue occurs, you can resolve it by placing the item in your inventory after the fix is applied and then placing it again.
- In Windurst: The Third Walk, if a K.O.’d player returns to the starting point at a specific timing after Promathia is defeated, the screen remains black.
- In the instanced dungeon “The Clyteum” introduced in Patch 7.5, spiritbond does not increase.
