Highlights
- Windtrace in Genshin Impact provides a fresh source of Primogems to earn, but players have been exposed to toxic behavior during the event.
- Players have reported that Hunters have been quitting matches to prevent Rebels from obtaining rewards.
- HoYoverse has temporarily disabled the ability to quit matches in Windtrace to address the issue, allowing players to engage in the event safely.
Windtrace has returned to Genshin Impact with a few notable improvements, though unfortunately, one of its features allows for toxic gameplay. While it could be argued that open-world exploration and building characters is the primary focus in Genshin Impact, each update of the game also comes with a set of major events that players can participate in. These events yield a sizable number of Primogems, and thus provide an evergreen source of gacha pulls over the course of a year.
Most of the time, events in Genshin Impact are designed to be played solo, with the Alchemical Ascension event from Version 4.5 being a recent example of solo non-combat gameplay. However, sometimes HoYoverse runs co-op events that pit players against each other, such as Joyful Beasts and Their Auspices from Version 4.4. Windtrace: Seekers and Strategy falls into the latter category.

A Genshin Impact leak reveals that HoYoverse will make significant adjustments to character levels with the release of Version 5.0.
As a returning event, Genshin Impact veterans already had certain expectations about Windtrace going in. Not everyone enjoys player vs. player content, and some choose to skip it. However, the new iteration of Windtrace allows for toxic gameplay that ruins the enjoyment of participants who happen to like the event, and wastes their time. As pointed out by minwheelee on the Genshin Impact subreddit, Hunters in Windtrace can simply quit a match at any time to prevent Rebels from obtaining rewards. Doing so deprives them of collecting Primogems in Genshin Impact, and forces players to re-queue for a match.
Genshin Impact Issues Temporary Fix to Windtrace Event
Thankfully, HoYoverse has been swift in addressing the situation, and has temporarily disabled the ability to quit a match until a better solution is found. Players should be safe to engage in Windtrace for now, which notably yields a total of 420 Primogems, 240,000 Mora, and 14 Hero’s Wit experience tomes. Though Arlecchino in Genshin Impact has left the Event Banners, Clorinde and Alhaitham in Version 4.7 will likely draw a fair number of gacha pulls from most Genshin Impact accounts.
The second half of Version 4.6 will also include the Vibro-Crystal Applications event, which will take players back to the Chasm, and Specially-Shaped Saurian Search, an event that will feature a tease for the upcoming region of Natlan. Details have begun to emerge about Natlan in Genshin Impact, and the new region is expected to feature mounts as the primary exploration mechanic. Its open-world content will be more connected to the narrative, inspired by how Remuria and the Sea of Bygone Eras work in Version 4.6.
