New Granblue Fantasy Relink Game Confirmed for the Switch 2

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is heading to Nintendo Switch 2, as Cygames shared the first look at the game’s upcoming expansion, Endless Ragnarok. It will arrive on the Switch 2 this summer and will include an exclusive feature for fans to consider.

The upcoming Switch 2 port of Granblue Fantasy: Relink was announced during the February 5 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. The 30-minute presentation focused solely on third-party titles coming to the Switch and Switch 2 consoles. The broadcast revealed that some pre-existing titles, like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Digimon Story: Time Stranger, would be ported to Nintendo consoles throughout 2026. Additionally, the broadcast also gave viewers a first look at new titles, including a new action RPG from Falcom called Kyoto Xanadu and the Console Archives collection of retro games.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink Reveals New Expansion and Switch 2 Port

Despite the fact that Granblue Fantasy: Relink got off to a fast start during its early 2024 launch, support for the game began to wane throughout the ensuing months. However, Cygames surprised fans by revealing that Granblue Fantasy: Relink would launch on the Switch 2 on Thursday, July 9. Along with the base game, the Switch 2 port of Granblue Fantasy: Relink will include Endless Ragnarok, a full expansion that will introduce new boss battles into the fold, as the entity known as Beelzebub descends on the Zegagrande Skydom. Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok will also arrive on Steam, PS4, and PS5 on July 9.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink on Switch 2 will come with exclusive local co-op support that players can utilize. Once the expansion arrives, all digital versions of Granblue Fantasy: Relink will include Endless Ragnarok as part of the base package and will retail for $60. Players who already have Granblue Fantasy: Relink on Steam or PlayStation can upgrade to Endless Ragnarok at a discount, starting at $29.99 for the Standard Edition.

Although the Switch 2 port of Granblue Fantasy: Relink will have physical versions, those will be issued on Game-Key Cards. However, given that the base PS5 version of Granblue Fantasy: Relink requires approximately 60GB of storage space, the fact that Switch 2 physical copies will utilize Game-Key Cards should come as no surprise. With the launch of Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok this July, the game will support crossplay online multiplayer between PlayStation, PC, and Switch 2, fulfilling a long-standing request from players. However, Switch 2 players will need an active Nintendo Switch Online membership for online multiplayer access.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink Will Have New Battle Features for Players to Try Out

The battle system of Granblue Fantasy: Relink has made it one of the best JRPGs for fans of fast-paced combat, and Endless Ragnarok looks to give fans more fierce foes to take on. It will include a new solo mode called The Conflux, where enigmatic powers and unpredictable obstacles will challenge players that delve into it. A new summoning system will give players more tactical options to overcome tough battles. However, some summons that are invoked by the character Lyria can be temporarily controlled by the player, adding a new degree to the game’s battle system. Once certain conditions are met, summons can enter the battle and execute a “Primal Burst” attack on their enemies.

Additionally, each playable character in Granblue Fantasy: Relink can be upgraded with master traits, allowing them to push their boundaries even farther. Between the new master traits and a cast of new playable characters in the Endless Ragnarok expansion, Granblue Fantasy: Relink players may want to swap their party members to see the new changes for themselves come July 9. All in all, fans looking to dive back into Granblue Fantasy: Relink will not have much longer to wait.
