A new limited-time, limited-availability debut for Dragon Ball is taking place on August 26, with a select audience able to check out a brand new release for the franchise. Of course, there are a lot of upcoming releases for Dragon Ball as the IP’s renaissance continues, despite the Dragon Ball Super manga going on hiatus in March 2024.
Right now, perhaps the two biggest will eventually be the anime adaptation of The Galactic Patrol arc of Dragon Ball Super, as well as the upcoming remake of Dragon Ball: Beeurus—a new and improved take on the beloved Dragon Ball Z movie/Dragon Ball Super story arc. Of course, the Dragon Ball video games are as active as ever too, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 (releasing in 2027) is probably one of the most exciting. Some folks, however, are going to play it sooner on the grandest stage in gaming.

Gaming giant Bandai Namco Entertainment announced it will be at Gamescom 2026 with a complete line-up of its games, including the 2026 open-world vampire game Blood of Dawnwalker, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and of course, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. Gaming fans who are in attendance will be able to play it, beginning on August 26 when Gamescom doors open to the public at 1 pm local time and ending when Gamescom closes its doors on August 30 (unless Bandai closes its booth sooner). Fans in attendance will find the playable demo in Hall 6.1, booth A20/B021.

For those who are not in attendance, which, despite Gamescom continuously breaking its own attendance records, includes tons of Dragon Ball fans around the world, it’s likely that new clips of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 gameplay (or new details at least) find their way online afterward. It’s a limited demo for a limited audience at a limited convention, so fans shouldn’t expect brand new character reveals, major story or lore dumps, or revolutionary new gameplay reveals, but it’s nice to see more and more of the game.
After all, it’s not like Bandai Namco Entertainment has exactly kept much hidden about the upcoming DBZ game releases. Since its initial reveal, the company has showcased hands-on previews, new trailers, and more. Perhaps the biggest was the little teaser for Age 1000 at the end of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2‘s final DLC, even if it would have had more punch if Xenoverse 3 hadn’t been revealed yet. Either way, Xenoverse fans are eating good with the IP, even if some fans get more on August 26.

While this is pure speculation, it seems DBXV3 is shaping up for an early 2027 release. Again, hands-on previews, trailers, gameplay snippets, and now a public demo do not happen for a game still deep in development. On the other hand, many fans are eagerly awaiting the first showcase of the new Dinosaur-esque Time Gods of Destruction being introduced in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, so there’s still some marketing work to do. It’s getting stronger each and every day, though, like a true Saiyan.
