The Dungeon Crawler Carl franchise has grown far beyond its beginnings as a self-published LitRPG series, selling millions of copies across an eight-book saga in a really short time span, and the wider Dungeon Crawler Carl universe is expanding in November. That only adds to the series’ rapid growth, which made Dungeon Crawler Carl one of the biggest names in the LitRPG space.
That momentum is only getting stronger, too, with Dungeon Crawler Carl now branching into several different forms of media. Peacock has already given a television adaptation the green light, while graphic novels, card games, TTRPGs, and audiobooks are also in the works. The fan demand for a Dungeon Crawler Carl video game has also not gone unnoticed. For fans waiting to see Carl and Princess Donut in new ways, the tabletop side of the franchise is getting particularly interesting.

The Iron Tangle Expansion continues the campaign from Dungeon Crawler Carl Unstoppable and adds new Tactics, Allies, Upgrades, levels, and five new bosses. The expansion includes five Boss Cards, 16 Floor 4 Threats, 24 Core Cards, 14 Upgrade Cards, two Floor Mats, two Iron Tangle Map Mats, a Train Token, 30 Sleeves, two Card Dividers, and a Rule Sheet. Players will need the Dungeon Crawler Carl Unstoppable base game, which is also scheduled to release in November for $60.
For Dungeon Crawler Carl fans, the Iron Tangle offers a way to experience the series’ dungeon-crawling RPG premise directly instead of simply reading about Carl and Princess Donut’s latest struggles. The expansion is built around exploring the subway tunnels, finding a way forward, recruiting allies, improving characters, and surviving the threats waiting throughout the floor (with five new bosses standing in the way).
