Harry Potter fans have a new video game release to look forward to on October 16, and may want to mark their calendars accordingly. Harry Potter is one of the most popular franchises in the world, from the best-selling books to the live-action film adaptations and beyond. There have also been a ton of Harry Potter video games released over the years, ensuring that fans have all kinds of options when it comes to immersing themselves in the Wizarding World.
The various Harry Potter books and movies have gotten their own video game versions, plus there have been original Harry Potter games released as well. There are titles like the ongoing Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery on mobile, the multiplayer-focused Quidditch Champions, and perhaps most notably, the open world action-RPG Hogwarts Legacy. Harry Potter has also received a pair of LEGO games, with those titles bundled together as the LEGO Harry Potter Collection on modern platforms.
LEGO Harry Potter Collection is Coming to Switch 2
LEGO Harry Potter Collection has been available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 1 for quite some time, but it’s now making its way to yet another platform. LEGO Harry Potter Collection will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, giving Harry Potter fans a new way to play the games. LEGO Harry Potter Collection on Switch 2 is expected to be near-identical to other versions of the game, though its graphics and performance should be better than what fans currently experience on the OG Switch. Unfortunately, we still don’t know if there will be an upgrade path for those that already own the Switch 1 version, and so anyone that wants it on Switch 2 should plan on spending $49.99.

There is Plenty More Harry Potter on the Way
LEGO Harry Potter Collection‘s Nintendo Switch 2 port isn’t the only Harry Potter video game release on the horizon. It’s been officially confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in active development, though the game has yet to be properly unveiled. While fans still don’t know what to expect from the game in an official capacity, it has been leaked that it will apparently be looking to synergize with the upcoming HBO TV series. This means fans may be able to expect Hogwarts Legacy 2 to be set around the same time as the Harry Potter story as opposed to 100 years in the past, and it’s also possible that open world Hogwarts will get a redesign to match the show. However, that’s just speculation at this time, and Harry Potter fans should wait for more information.
As far as the Harry Potter HBO series goes, the first episode will premiere on December 25. The Harry Potter HBO show is expected to feature book scenes that the movies skipped over as well as brand-new, never-before-seen character interactions.
There’s also Harry Potter: Defenders of Hogwarts to take into account. Harry Potter: Defenders of Hogwarts is a new board game that was successfully funded on Kickstarter. While a specific release date has yet to be announced, the first wave of Harry Potter: Defenders of Hogwarts games are expected to ship later this month.
