Harry Potter fans have brand-new adventures to look forward to this month. Since the franchise exploded in popularity in the early 2000s, Harry Potter has seen its fair share of video game releases. There have been video game adaptations of the movies, as well as video game adaptations of the books. Completely original Harry Potter games have also been released over the years, with the most notable being 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy released in 2023 to strong reviews and record-breaking sales, becoming the best-selling game that year in the process. While fans wait anxiously for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel, they may want to turn their attention to some of the ongoing Harry Potter gaming experiences, like Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Hogwarts Mystery may not be nearly as popular as it once was, but it’s still releasing notable updates for fans to enjoy that are good reasons to jump back in or boot it up for the very first time.

How Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Has Evolved Since Its Inception

In an interview with Game Rant, a developer of Hogwarts Mystery discusses the evolution of the game and how it has changed since its release.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Bringing Back Sorcerer’s Stone Event and More

As of today, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has brought back its Summer of Mystery event. The Summer of Mystery is based on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, so Harry’s first year at Hogwarts. Players are able to complete the School of Witchcraft & Wizardry Mini Hogwarts Diary Event, and also enjoy a scavenger hunt, with something new to find in the game each day based on clues given away on social media. Summer of Mystery is back to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Harry Potter franchise, but there are even more events coming to the mobile game throughout the month of July.

Starting July 8, Harry Potter fans can participate in the 3-Week Community Challenge, where they are tasked with earning as many House Points as possible. Then, on July 29, the Norbert’s Transport Beyond Special Preview will be live in the game. Developer Jam City has promised even more new Hogwarts Mystery adventures in July, with three more expected to go live later this month. Specifics on when exactly these adventures will be available or what they will entail have yet to be revealed, but it’s been teased that one will “challenge the boundaries between the Wizarding and Muggle worlds,” another will be about “helping a beloved Hogwarts professor prepare for a new school year,” and the final will be about “embarking on a thrilling dragon-filled journey.”

Harry Potter fans will have even more Sorcerer’s Stone content to check out later this year. The first season of the Harry Potter HBO series is scheduled to premiere on December 25, and will be adapting the first book.

Finally, the last week of July will wrap up the big plans Jam City has for Hogwarts Mystery this month. From July 24 to July 31, Hogwarts Mystery will feature the 25 Years of Magic Sweepstakes where players can win prizes from HarryPotter.com by logging in to the mobile game. The sweepstakes is ending on July 31 because that happens to be Harry Potter’s birthday.

For those that can’t get enough of Hogwarts Mystery‘s stories and characters, another big update is being teased for September 1. September 1 is the start of the school year for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter lore, so it will be exciting to see what exactly Hogwarts Mystery has in store.
