Grand Theft Auto fans have a brand-new official release to look forward to on September 8, Rockstar Games has confirmed. The fan-favorite nopixel roleplay servers are getting an overhaul in GTA 5 in the form of nopixel V, which the developer says will “set the stage for new stories” going forward.
The GTA roleplay community has been built from the ground up to acquire a dedicated player base over the years, and it took a while for Rockstar to catch up. However, back in 2023, Rockstar acquired Cfx.re, the development team behind FiveM and RedM, the most prominent roleplay platforms for Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. Since then, the communities have only gone from strength to strength.
GTA 5 nopixel V Closed Beta Announced for September 8
A new announcement on the Rockstar Newswire confirmed that the nopixel V closed beta is set to begin on September 8, where invited players will be able to hop into the server via the Rockstar Games Launcher. Unfortunately, it’s not something that will be accessible to most players – the nopixel invite list is pretty exclusive to online creators. However, for fans who have followed the nopixel storylines over the years, Rockstar promises that the launch of nopixel V will bring “some familiar faces reprising fan-favorite characters and new personalities beginning their own stories.”

The nopixel V overhaul promises numerous new features, including overhauled character creation that “gives roleplayers more ways than ever to create characters as unique as their backstories,” as well as new corners of Los Santos, including “the brand new Pixel Hotel & Casino to a six-block revamp of Cypress Flats,” all of which provide new areas for storytellers to take advantage of. For most, this will definitely be something they watch on Twitch rather than play themselves, but it’s still great for GTA fans to have another release to look forward to.
With Rockstar’s official support behind it, it will be very interesting to see how much of an improvement nopixel V is over its predecessor. From its September 8 launch through to September 30, players who watch GTA roleplay streamers play nopixel V on Twitch can enjoy several Drops for GTA Online, including GTA$1,500,000 and the Burger Shot Tracksuit.
Given Rockstar’s acquisition of Cfx.re, it will be very interesting to see how it plans to incorporate roleplay into GTA 6‘s eventual online portion. It’s evident that the developer now sees the value in these roleplay servers and how they can offer a completely different experience to the community. Some even think that GTA 6 should have official RP servers, which would make a lot of sense. Only time will tell in this regard.
