New Official Pokemon Pokopia Release Confirmed for October 17New Official Pokemon Pokopia Release Confirmed for October 17

The next Pokemon Pokopia release is right around the corner, set to be available on Saturday, October 17. Pokemon Pokopia is one of the biggest new game releases of 2026, standing out as the highest-rated Pokemon game to date and one of the must-play exclusives on the Nintendo Switch 2. Pokemon Pokopia‘s base game comes with dozens of hours of content for fans to enjoy, with more added through paid DLC and free updates.

Pokemon Pokopia has featured a variety of limited-time events, and it has also seen the release of its first premium DLC expansion. Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC released earlier this year and was well-received, giving fans a brand-new village to rebuild and giving everyone, even if they didn’t buy the DLC, the new Dive ability to allow for underwater exploration. More Pokopia paid content is on the way, but fans also have more free in-game events to look forward to as well.

Pokemon Pokopia officially reveals a first look at the new dress-up feature ahead of its late 2026 debut.

On October 17, the next Pokemon Pokopia limited-time event will officially launch, giving fans a good reason to jump back into the game. The event, entitled Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises, will go live starting at 5:00am local time on Saturday, October 17 and will run until 4:59am local time on Sunday, November 1. The event, as its name suggests, is themed after the dual Ghost/Grass-type Pokemon Pumpkaboo, and is going live in Pokopia to celebrate Halloween.

There are two requirements for Pokopia players to participate in the Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises event. The first one is that they must have rebuilt one of the game’s Pokemon Centers. Assuming at least one Pokemon Center is rebuilt, Pumpkaboo will appear near one and players can befriend it. The next step is learning Camouflage from Zorua, who appears in the Bleak Beach area. With Camouflage, players can hide from Pokemon and then surprise them to get pumpkin candy, which serves as the currency for this event.

Pokopia‘s pumpkin candy can be exchanged for specially-themed furniture and decorations. As we’ve seen in past Pokopia events, these special limited-time items can be used to build habitats that attract the event Pokemon’s evolved form — in this case, Gourgeist. Once players have befriended Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist, they will stay indefinitely, so Pokopia players don’t have to worry about losing them once the event is over on November 1.

Pokemon GO Reveals New Halloween Day Event

The Halloween event in Pokopia should give players plenty reason to jump back into the game, but others may be holding out for something more substantial. Luckily, we know that the second Pokopia DLC is releasing before the end of the year. The new DLC won’t add a new village to the game, but it will add some new Pokemon, and it will give players the chance to dress up their Pokemon in various outfits. The third Pokopia DLC will indeed be adding a new village, but it’s not coming until some undetermined point in 2027.
