The Warrior Cats franchise (aka Warriors) is set to have a brand-new release in the very near future. The Warrior Cats franchise started all the way back in 2003 with the release of Warriors: Into the Wild, and it’s been going strong ever since. New Warrior Cats books continue to be released on a regular basis, with the current story arc, “Changing Skies,” already having seen four releases, with Book 4, Guiding Light, hitting store shelves earlier this month.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the franchise, Warrior Cats is a fantasy series about feral cats and their adventures. The cats are split up into different Clans, with the books chronicling the conflicts between the Clans and outside forces. It’s a unique premise that has appealed greatly to children and young adults, selling over 90 million copies worldwide so far. With such a massive fanbase, it’s no surprise that there are still new Warriors books being released like Guiding Light, and it’s also not surprising that the franchise has branched out into other media as well.
When is the Warrior Cats Game Coming Out?
The release of Warriors: Guiding Light would be enough to make October an exciting one for fans of the franchise, but there’s even more to look forward to in the near future. The first major Warrior Cats video game is set to launch on October 23 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Entitled Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, the game lets players create their own cat, join a Clan, and fight in 3v3 turn-based battles. While it will be telling original stories, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest will feature “iconic cats and locations” that fans will recognize from the books.
As detailed by its official description, Warrior Cats fans can look forward to exploring the ThunderClan’s forests, the RiverClan’s Marshlands, the ShadowClan’s dark pine swamps, and the WindClan’s open moors, among other locations. When they’re not engaged in turn-based combat, players are free to “climb trees, pounce through undergrowth, track scents, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover the mysteries of StarClan itself.”

Three main game modes are set to be available in Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, with Prophecy mode featuring four original stories to experience, Defender mode serving as an endurance test to see how long players can survive in fights against the game’s various enemies, and Skirmish mode allowing for online multiplayer battles. Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest will have players customizing their own den, and they will also be able to visit their friend’s camps online, so the multiplayer component isn’t strictly a PvP experience. Players are also able to help each other out by crafting items and gifting resources to their friends.
Throw in some procedurally generated characters, quests, and stories, and it sounds like Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest is going to have serious replay value. Time will tell if the final product appeals to franchise fans, but it definitely sounds promising so far.
