New Pokemon Release Officially Confirmed for August 5

Pokemon fans have a new release they can look forward to on Wednesday, August 5. Pokemon is a ridiculously popular franchise and has enjoyed a never-ending stream of main series titles and spin-offs since it hit the scene in the 90s. One of the most popular Pokemon spin-offs ever released is 2026’s Pokemon Pokopia, which combines the world of Pokemon with mechanics more commonly found in games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and Animal Crossing.

Pokopia earned strong reviews at the time of its release, becoming the highest-rated game in the franchise in the process. Pokopia has been a top-seller on the Nintendo Switch 2 and is one of the best reasons to pick up Nintendo’s latest home console/handheld hybrid. Pokopia‘s base game has enough content to keep players busy for dozens if not hundreds of hours, but soon there will be even more to do.

Pokemon Pokopia Has 31 Confirmed New Pokemon Coming in Bubbly Basin

Pokemon Pokopia is officially adding at least more than 30 Pokemon with its upcoming Bubbly Basin DLC.

Pokemon Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin DLC is Releasing Soon

Pokemon Pokopia will be releasing its Bubbly Basin DLC on Wednesday, August 5. The Bubbly Basin DLC will add a brand-new village for players to rebuild, full of new Pokemon to meet. The twist is that the new village is completely underwater, and so players have to utilize the new Dive ability to reach it. Bubbly Basin is premium DLC for Pokopia, but Dive will actually be added to the game as part of a completely free update coinciding with the DLC’s release. Anyone interested in Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC should note that it’s only available as part of the Expansion Pass, which retails for $34.99.

The Pokopia Expansin Pass includes much more than just Bubbly Basin, though. By purchasing the Pokopia Expansion Pass, players also lock in access to the second and third DLC drops, coming in late 2026 and TBA 2027, respectively. The second DLC will not include a new town, but we do know it will let players dress up their Pokemon. Next to nothing is known about the third Pokopia DLC, beyond the fact that it will feature yet another new town to rebuild and explore.

There are no doubt millions of Pokopia fans excited to jump into the Bubbly Basin DLC on August 5, but others may be more concerned about the main series games. We know that Pokemon Winds and Waves are launching in late 2027 as the Generation 10 Pokemon games. Nintendo has revealed the Pokemon Winds and Waves starter trio and shown off how the games will look, but more specifics on what the games will entail will have to wait.

Reliable leakers have said that there will be no more Pokemon Winds and Waves news in 2027, so the next time fans can expect to see the games in action is Pokemon Day 2027, aka February 27. It’s when we expect to get a name for the Pokemon Winds and Waves region, see more of the new Pokemon that will be featured in the games, and potentially see the box art legendaries. While they wait to learn more about Winds and Waves, Pokemon fans can look forward to new adventures in Pokopia through the Bubbly Basin DLC on August 5 and the other new expansions that are on the way.
