New Pokemon Sleep Update for March 2026 Adds New Feature That Will Only Be Helpful to Some Players

Pokemon Sleep is officially adding compatibility for Garmin smartwatches in March 2026 to allow for a more streamlined way to track rest and earn rewards. While many fans enjoy checking in on their Snorlax every morning, this specific expansion focuses on connecting with hardware that not everyone might have on their wrist. According to The Pokémon Company, Pokemon Sleep is looking to make the sleep-tracking process much more convenient for those who prefer to keep their mobile devices away from their pillows.

Since its launch, the app has been a unique part of the franchise’s health-focused lineup. The core idea is that users can help a Snorlax grow by getting a good night’s rest on Greengrass Isle, and their sleep patterns attract different monsters based on whether they are “dozing,” “snoozing,” or “slumbering.” This release follows the massive 30th-anniversary milestone for the series, which celebrated three decades since the first games arrived on the Game Boy in February 1996. Up until now, fans had to either leave their smartphones on their mattress or buy a Pokemon GO Plus accessory to get their data into the app.

Pokemon Sleep Is Adding Mew

Mew makes its way to Pokemon Sleep following 2026’s annual Pokemon Day broadcast, adding the beloved Mythical Pokemon to the sleep-based game.

Why the New Garmin Update is a Specialized Addition

While the latest news is exciting for fans of the popular Pokemon Sleep app, the announcement benefits only a specific group. According to The Pokémon Company, the app is now officially compatible with Garmin smartwatches. This means if someone already owns one of these devices, they can track their rest and study different monster sleep styles more easily. However, the reality is that many players do not own this specific brand of wearable hardware, making the new feature essentially locked behind a third-party purchase. The official website also notes that not every Garmin model is supported, so players will need to check a specific compatibility list to see if their device even works with the app.

For those who do fit into this specific category, the update offers some appealing perks. The new functionality works with popular lines like the Fenix, Forerunner, Venu, and Vivoactive. It allows users to sync their wearable data directly to the mobile application, effectively removing the need to have a glowing phone screen next to their heads all night. While this is a huge quality-of-life upgrade for Garmin owners, it does leave fans using Apple Watches, Pixel Watches, or other fitness trackers waiting for their own turn with the app.

To make this collaboration feel more special, Garmin has released two unique watch faces that are available for free through the Connect IQ Store. These designs are more than just static images; they actually react to the wearer’s body’s energy levels. According to Garmin, these watch faces use a feature called Body Battery to change how the characters on the screen behave.

  • Pokemon Sleep: Snorlax & Friends: This design features a group of iconic characters like Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Snorlax relaxing on Greengrass Isle.
  • Pokemon Sleep: I Choose You: This more focused option lets users choose one specific monster out of 48 available characters to stay on their screen.

When a user’s Body Battery is high, the Pokemon will look happy and full of energy, but as they get tired throughout the day, the pocket monsters will gradually start to look worn out and sleepy. Additionally, the watch face will automatically switch into a “Bedtime Mode” about 90 minutes before a wearer’s set sleep schedule to help them wind down.

This hardware partnership is a clear sign that the developers want to make the app more flexible for different lifestyles. While the Garmin feature is currently a “some players” experience, it sets a precedent for potential future updates involving other smartwatch brands. For now, the combination of World Sleep Day events and new tracking options for Pokemon Sleep ensures March is a productive month for everyone’s favorite sleeping giant and his friends.

Whether a hardcore Garmin user looks forward to seeing a Pikachu yawn when the owner is tired, or a casual player hopes to earn some extra items in Pokemon Sleep during the Stamp Rally, there are plenty of reasons to ensure a full eight hours of rest. As the developers remind the public, the app is mainly for fun and is not a medical tool, but it certainly makes waking up in the morning much more exciting.
