New PS Plus Extra Game for June 2026 Added Ahead of Time

While PS Plus Extra typically drops a large batch of games in the middle of the month, staggering its releases so that the Essential games have a few weeks in the spotlight, Sony recently started experimenting with a new strategy. Said strategy makes it so that PS Plus subscribers are getting access to one of the Extra games early, that being Sonic X Shadow Generations.

PS Plus Extra Subscribers in the US, UK, and Japan can play Sonic X Shadow Generations right now, four days before its global rollout as one of the PS Plus Extra games dropping on June 16. For those unfamiliar with the game, it offers story modes for both Sonic the Hedgehog and Shadow, essentially being a two-in-one package where players control the blue blur and his much edgier equivalent. Sonic’s half is a remastered, older game, while Shadow’s portion is entirely fresh, giving new and old Sonic fans alike something to appreciate.
