PlayStation Plus has finally revealed the upcoming games for July 2026, including a popular first-person shooter, a narrative roguelike/table-inspired game, and a retro-inspired 2D RPG. Overall, it’s a unique month for PS Plus.
The PS Plus free games for July 2026 announcement may feel a little late, given that it took place on July 1, but this is simply how the Wednesday reveal/first Tuesday release cycle worked out this month. It may also feel that way because Sony is experimenting with the PS Plus Extra and Premium game catalog rollout, staggering them throughout the month instead of adding them in one fell swoop. PS Plus Extra added three games on June 30, for example, ahead of this new announcement.
Brand-New PS5 Controller Officially Revealed, Releases on August 6
PlayStation has officially announced a brand new PS5 controller with pre-orders opening on June 30 ahead of its August 6 release date.
PS Plus Free Games for July 2026 List
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – Cross-Gen Bundle (PS5/PS4)
- For the King 2 (PS5/PS4)
- CrossCode (PS5/PS4)
The PS Plus free games for July 2026, available via the Essential tier (so called because the games are “free” bonuses and the tier is necessary to play online), include the following games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, For the King 2, and CrossCode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 brings a full package of campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies content built around both new and returning ideas. The story continues directly from Modern Warfare 2 as Task Force 141 hunts Vladimir Makarov, multiplayer revives 16 remastered 2009 maps with updated visuals and mechanics, and Zombies expands into an open-world PvE mode. Obviously, it’s the headlining release ahead of Modern Warfare 4‘s release later this year.
Meanwhile, For the King 2 tells the story of a fallen kingdom ruled by Queen Rosomon, who has enslaved her people while forming dark alliances to tighten her grip on power. Players can journey solo or in four-player co-op with refined roguelike-and-tabletop-inspired gameplay. Finally, CrossCode is a retro-inspired 2D action RPG that blends 16-bit visuals with fast, physics-driven combat, puzzle-heavy dungeon design, and a sci-fi story.

In the meantime, subscribers can still claim and download the PS Plus free games for June. Those include the popular survival game Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Warhammer 40K: Darktide. The latter is only available for subscribers with a PS5 and a subscription, while the first two are available on both PS4 and PS5 consoles.
Grounded is a co-op survival game where players must survive their backyard after being shrunk to the size of an ant, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is a platform fighting game with an obvious focus, and Warhammer 40K: Darktide is a heavy, dark co-op action game (& honestly one of the best co-op games on PS Plus).
Of course, it’s hard to ignore the greater context surrounding PlayStation and these new games. While PS Plus subscribers are being treated to a new lineup, this announcement followed the confirmation that PlayStation would discontinue physical disc production in January 2028, meaning there’s only a year and a half left for physical collectors. If that wasn’t enough, PlayStation also announced it was shutting down the PS3 and PS Vita Store within the next year, really highlighting that the physical era is coming to an end. The new PS Plus games are always a reason to be excited, but the industry is definitely undergoing a serious change right now.
