Sony has officially confirmed one of the PS Plus Extra games for October 2026 early, letting fans know one of the handful of games arriving on October 20. Befitting its typical pattern, fans won’t know the rest of the PS Plus Extra and Premium game catalog additions for October 20 until October 14, meaning Sony has given fans nearly a month’s heads-up.
Of course, while it’s exciting to already know one of the PS Plus Extra games coming in October 2026, several games are also leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium on October 20. PS Plus has already confirmed the following losses: Death Squared, Gloomhaven, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, Jurassic World Evolution 2, Lake, Rogue Lords, Silent Hill 2 (2024), and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. As unfortunate as it is, at least there’s something new to offset the loss of the “old.”
At the recent State of Play, PlayStation confirmed that Mycopunk would join the PS Plus Extra game catalog once it comes to the console, having been on Steam since July 2025. Unfortunately, neither company mentioned a specific date until now, with fans now 100% knowing that Mycopunk joins PS Plus Extra on October 20. It remains to be seen what else joins it, as around ten games or so typically come to PS Plus Extra and Premium throughout the month, so it really is just one piece of the puzzle.

For subscribers who’ve never heard of it, Mycopunk is a first-person looter shooter joining the PS Plus Extra game catalog. In it, players embody a squad of robot misfits as they face a fungal disaster that’s rapidly spreading across the planet. Players take on missions, fight hordes of enemies, collect new mods, and use a grid-based upgrade system to customize weapons and abilities in increasingly ridiculous ways. The game supports single-player and four-player co-op, with a wide selection of weapons, upgrades, and character builds to experiment with. Mycopunk isn’t necessarily making any plays to be the best looter shooter ever, although it is no slouch, but it is probably one of the best on PS Plus.
Over on Steam, for example, Mycopunk has a Very Positive reception on Steam, with 91% of players giving the game a thumbs up. Players generally praise its fast-paced FPS combat, huge amount of weapon and upgrade customization, co-op gameplay, and goofy personality. The main criticisms are more tied to its Early Access state and the fact that some players want more content, but the overall Steam reception remains strongly positive. It stands to reason that Mycopunk will do the same on PS5 as well.
One of the biggest benefits of PS Plus for co-op games, or multiplayer games at large, is the instant access to community. There’s no need to worry about friends purchasing Mycopunk as long as they have a PS Plus subscription, and that bodes well for Mycopunk’s launch. That no doubt helped out the open-world game Big Walk when it launched on day one on PS Plus.
