A new PlayStation 5 update is available for download as of July 1, 2026. The latest PS5 firmware version is a regular monthly release that is unlikely to result in meaningful user-facing changes.

Prior to today, the most recent PS5 patch rolled out on June 4. Its newly debuted successor bumps the firmware version number from 26.04-13.40.00 to 26.04-13.42.00, but that appears to be the only change owners are likely to notice while using Sony’s console.

The changelog attached to the July 2026 patch contains just one item: “performance and stability” improvements. That is about as generic as Sony’s release notes get, indicating another quiet month on the PS5 firmware front. A sparse changelog is hardly unusual for a summer patch; the PS5 firmware update for July 2025 was similarly light on details.

The 26.04-13.42.00 update officially rolled out on July 1. Sony has historically used staggered releases for even minor firmware revisions, so some PS5 owners may not receive it before the end of the day. The rollout should be completed by Friday, July 3.
