New PS5 Game is Like It Takes Two, But You Play as Cats

New PS5 Game is Like It Takes Two, But You Play as Cats

A new PlayStation 5 game may be just what co-op gamers who loved It Takes Two are looking for, especially if they like cats. The new PS5 co-op game, The Missing Tail, will also arrive on PC and Xbox, giving gamers on all major platforms an opportunity to team up like they did in It Takes Two, but this time, as two cute cats.

In the year following the release of It Takes Two, Stray saw significant success in combining cyberpunk themes and aesthetics with third-person adventure gameplay, and of course, the titular cat. There have been plenty of games revolving around cats both before its launch and since, but few have given players the opportunity to team up with a friend, like in It Takes Two.

New Co-Op Steam Game is a Hodgepodge of Dead Space, Minecraft, and Deep Rock Galactic

A promising new co-op Steam game is ready to bring the laughs and the scares, as it boasts clear similarities to wide a range of beloved games.

Upcoming Game The Missing Tail is Like It Takes Two

A new co-op game called The Missing Tail has been revealed, and it looks like it has a lot of similarities to the co-op gaming adventures players found in It Takes Two. The Missing Tail pairs up royal palace cat Pepper, who has gotten out of their home, with a stray called Dash that’s accustomed to surviving on the streets, and the two must work together in order to get back where they belong. A brief trailer shows off some of the gameplay that gamers can expect, which will heavily revolve around working together in a medieval fantasy world. The cats are shown carrying a torch together, moving objects to help one another to reach new areas, and even being shrunken down by a wizard to sneak in through a keyhole.

Similar to Stray, The Missing Tail developer Estoty hasn’t overlooked the veritable chaos that cats can create. While working together to make it home will be players’ main focus, the game has plenty of ways to create a little kitty chaos, like knocking things off of shelves. While it probably won’t be as focused on that theme as games like Catlateral Damage, where the whole goal is to play as a cat causing as much destruction as possible, players should be able to have some fun causing problems for human NPCs.

Fans of the co-op gaming genre will likely be pleased to know that this is a splitscreen co-op title. Players can play locally together, and only one copy of the game is needed in order to play. While the game doesn’t yet have a release date, fans can add it to their wishlists for PlayStation or on Steam for PC, with an Xbox listing coming soon. Fans of the concept can also sign up on the official website to join the playtest waitlist.

Dispatch Studio’s Next Game is Now Official

Around a decade ago, couch co-op games were considered to be largely extinct, but hits like It Takes Two helped to turn that trend around. It Takes Two received awards and glowing reviews, and plenty of players flooded the game, helping the developer to sell over 20 million units in under four years. With It Takes Two proving that a couch co-op game could be wildly successful, the floodgates have opened since, with tons of similar games entering the market, ranging from casual couch co-op to intense hardcore challenges that require intense coordination and patience. The Missing Tail looks to be a cozy game, giving gamers one more option to play together.
