New Report Brings Potentially Bad News for GTA 6 Fans

A brand-new report about leaked source code for Grand Theft Auto 6 has surfaced online that could potentially be bad news for fans eagerly awaiting the release of the game. First revealed back in December 2023, GTA 6 is the upcoming open-world action-adventure game developed by Rockstar Games. The title is the next major entry in the long-running Grand Theft Auto franchise and is one of the most anticipated games, with millions of players waiting to get their hands on it.

However, GTA 6‘s journey hasn’t been entirely smooth. Rockstar has shared very little information about the game and initially announced a 2025 release window. However, the developer later confirmed the game would be delayed to May 26, 2026. Many players assumed that this would be the final release date, but Rockstar once again delayed GTA 6 to November 19, 2026. This left many players in the community frustrated, as the developer still hasn’t given more details about the game. Although Rockstar has reconfirmed the November 2026 release date, GTA 6 allegedly might face trouble yet again.

GTA 6 Insider Says the Game Will Be Like a PS5 Exclusive, But Not in the Way You Think

A trusted source for all things Grand Theft Auto 6 explains why the highly anticipated title is being treated like a PS5 exclusive by Sony.

New GTA 6 Reports May Not Be Good News for Fans

As reported by Videotechuk_ on Twitter, jailed hacker Arion Kurtaj has managed to smuggle a phone into a UK prison. The insider shared screenshots of WhatsApp conversations between the hacker and other parties, where Kurtaj suggests that GTA 6‘s source code is already in someone’s possession. He’s surprised that the file hasn’t surfaced publicly. If the game’s source were to leak online, it could spell serious trouble for GTA 6.

Kurtaj is a teenager who is responsible for the massive GTA 6 leaks that happened in 2022. He reportedly hacked into Rockstar’s Slack using compromised information and gained access to early development materials. This included gameplay clips showcasing systems such as robberies involving the game’s protagonists, Lucia and Jason, weapon mechanics, and other in-development features. Kurtaj was also reportedly linked to the hacking group Lapsus$ and had targeted major companies like Uber and Nvidia in the past. Although the court addressed the case, reports suggest that he was not in a condition to stand trial and was later transferred to a regular prison.

A game’s source code is essentially the original programming functions that are written by the developers. It’s the blueprint of a title that determines how every mechanic functions, how NPCs behave, how weapons fire, and how the overall systems interact with one another. Reports suggest that the GTA 5 source code has already leaked in the past. However, if GTA 6‘s source code ends up leaking, it could lead to a lot of issues for Rockstar. Hackers and modders will be able to analyze the game’s internal systems before launch and come up with cheats, exploits, or other tools to target the game’s online component. It could also lead to the story and other hidden details being exposed. In the worst-case scenario, Rockstar might be forced to reconsider the game’s current release date, as it would need to strengthen its security and fix the vulnerabilities, which is a process that could take significant time and development resources.

However, players over on Reddit and Twitter believe that GTA 6 might not be able to survive another delay. The anticipation surrounding the game has already reached unprecedented levels. Rockstar has also been under pressure internally, with accusations related to the GTA 6 union busting, and claims that the studio has attempted to track leakers by planting fake information. If another delay ends up happening, the developer might face a stronger backlash from the community, and their reputation could take another hit. As always, it’s crucial to take these reports and leaks with a grain of salt. Rockstar still has not officially confirmed any of these claims.
