Resident Evil is having a massive 2026, with a brand-new video game entry in Resident Evil Requiem that’s a clear GOTY contender, the official reveal of Resident Evil Veronica as the next series remake, and the success of Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie, giving the franchise a much-needed big-screen win. Now, Resident Evil fans have a new release to look forward to in early 2027 that brings that right back into the Raccoon City outbreak.
Since the series debuted in 1996, Resident Evil games have sold over 200 million units, making it Capcom’s best-selling franchise. While the franchise has ventured into the realm of film in the past, most previous movies have seen mixed to poor critical reception. That trend has been bucked in 2026, with the recent Resident Evil movie earning positive critic reviews, resulting in a 96% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and this upcoming 2027 release looks to capitalize on the film’s success.
Resident Evil is Getting a New Physical Release in 2027

Fans of the new Resident Evil movie can dive back into the chaos of Raccoon City with a physical vinyl release of the film’s soundtrack launching on January 29, 2027. Composed by Hays Holladay and Ryan Holladay, the Resident Evil film soundtrack captures the tension and horrors that protagonist Bryan faces as he makes his way toward Raccoon City General with his medical delivery in tow. Features of this release include:

Like the dramatic visuals highlighted in the film, this Resident Evil release leans into the franchise’s horror elements with a blood-red color for the pressed vinyl album. A total of 29 tracks are included on the vinyl spread across the A and B sides of the record. Aside from the full soundtrack, this release also includes exclusive Resident Evil artwork on a 12″ x 12″ insert, as well as notes from director Zach Cregger and the soundtrack’s composers.

The Zach Cregger film may be the current hot release for the Resident Evil franchise, but the series is poised to have a significant 2027 beyond this soundtrack release. Resident Evil Veronica, the upcoming remake of Code Veronica, is planned for a 2027 launch, despite lacking a firm release date. The game is currently rumored to be targeting a Fall 2027 release, but that has not been confirmed by Capcom. Still, there is plenty for Resident Evil fans to get excited about in the coming year.
