New Steam Co-Op Game With ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ Reviews is a Cross Between Golf and Peak

Super Battle Golf has been released on Steam to strong player counts and excellent reviews, marking it out as potentially the next big co-op game on the platform. The game takes golf and combines it with some elements that would be right at home in Peak, another of Steam’s biggest co-op games of late.

Super Battle Golf launched on Steam on February 19, 2026, developed by Brimstone, which previously released titles such as Overthrown and Lance a Lot. It’s also published by Oro Interactive, which notably published Roadside Research, another popular co-op game making waves on Steam recently. According to the developer, Super Battle Golf started as “a silly little pitch from our VFX artist” and has since become a title that has already sold over 100,000 copies in the days since its release. The studio claims it took just four and a half months to develop, and has already surged past over 12,000 concurrent players.

New Co-Op PvE Game on Steam Getting Rave Reviews, And You Can Try It For Free

Fans of co-op PvE action on Steam seem to absolutely love the new game, which has already earned hundreds of positive reviews for its free demo.

Super Battle Golf is Steam’s Next Big Friendslop Game

On Super Battle Golf‘s Steam page, the game is described as an “online 1-8 player golf game where everyone plays at the same time.” Players can sabotage each other’s shots as they try to be the first to put their ball in the hole. Just that concept alone would be enough to cause mass havoc, but it also features item pick-ups that can be used against opponents to cause even more chaos. This can range from basic items like golf carts used to ram opponents to something a little more unusual, such as an orbital laser that can be fired across the map. This makes Super Battle Golf one of the most chaotic games out there right now, and with over 27 different courses to play on, it’s easy to see why it has quickly taken off on Steam.

At a glance, it’s very easy to make Peak comparisons with Super Battle Golf. The art style between the two games is similar, and the characters in this game look like they’d be right at home in Peak. It’s a comparison that comes up a lot in the game’s Steam reviews, which are “Overwhelmingly Positive” at the time of writing. One player even jokingly described it as being “peak gaming.” The reviews are absolutely glowing, and there’s one word that features an awful lot: “fun.” Stripped back to its core, Super Battle Golf is about having fun above all else, and developer Brimstone is reaping the rewards. While the game is still in its first week of sale, Super Battle Golf currently has a 20% introductory offer, bringing it down to $6.39 until February 26.

Over the last year, Steam co-op games have had an enormous surge in popularity, especially those made by indie developers. Titles like REPO, Peak, and RV There Yet? have been given the affectionate nickname “friendslop.” However, not every small co-op game makes it big in this genre – the best friendslop games all have something unique that helps them stand out from the crowd. For Super Battle Golf, the way it injects co-op chaos into the classic game of golf is proving to be the major selling point. As it stands, friendslop is showing no signs of slowing down, and it’s cool to see gamers embrace titles that bring such fresh ideas to the table.

With Super Battle Golf‘s release now behind developer Brimstone, it isn’t resting on its laurels. It has already confirmed that it is working on the game’s first content update, with plans to add a brand-new biome with 9 holes, as well as more cosmetics. It does stress that it’s a small team working on the game, so it can’t address all player suggestions immediately. But with strong sales and excellent early player reviews, Super Battle Golf is off to a dream start.
