New Steam Game is a Roguelike With 200 Player Co-Op

New Steam Game is a Roguelike With 200 Player Co-Op

A new co-op game called Minimo popped up on Steam. Minimo is being developed by indie studio Low Drag Labs and is said to be an “unpredictable roguelike adventure” that will see up to 200 Steam players teaming up to beat a procedurally generated adventure.

Minimo will be the first game released under Low Drag Labs. However, its developers have worked with some high-profile gaming companies in the past. Two founders are listed on Low Drag Labs’ official website: Jon Selin and Mike Hines. While Selin is a Swedish dev who worked as a Design Director at CCP Games and as VP of Design at Pocket Gems, Mike Hines has worked at Epic, Oculus, and Perpetual.

Why Crimson Desert’s Steam Rating Keeps Climbing (And Why It May Not Be Over Yet)

Crimson Desert’s Steam rating didn’t just recover after launch, it’s still climbing, and the reason why suggests it may not be done anytime soon

One match of Minimo lasts 30 minutes. In those 30 minutes, players will team up with up to 200 other real-world players to explore a vast map, collect gear, solve puzzles, defeat enemies, and conquer large raid-like bosses. Along the way, players will choose from a series of upgrades that can improve their combat potential, survival skills, or craftsmanship abilities. Overcoming challenges will open up new pathways that in turn lead to even greater challenges and better rewards. Minimo‘s in-game map is procedurally generated, which means that every match features unique challenge combinations.

While the maximum lobby size in Minimo is 200, players can queue for a match by themselves, in small squads, or alongside huge player-made guild groups. Over time, players will unlock 50 different character classes, each coming with unique abilities and playstyles, such as the ranged Hunter, the magical Pyromancer, and the melee-focused Guard, to name just a few. Completing runs will also unlock a variety of cosmetic outfits and pets that can be used to customize the player’s character.

Minimo’s Key Features

  • Unlock 50 distinct classes, each with unique abilities, roles, and playstyles.
  • Team up with other players and combine classes cooperatively to complete quests, solve puzzles, find secrets, and defeat bosses.
  • Explore procedural worlds with fresh layouts, encounters, and surprises every time you play.
  • Each run lasts 30 minutes.
  • Play solo, in small groups, or alongside up to 200 players
  • Unlock pets and cosmetic outfits to personalize your character.
  • Choose between hundreds of powerful upgrades, with synergies and wild builds.
  • Everything you do helps the entire team. Level up together, get stronger, and push further each run.
  • Compete in guild and individual leaderboards.
  • There are fishing, cooking, and gardening mechanics, letting players relax during runs with chill activities that still contribute to the team’s progress.

There’s currently no release window for Minimo, but a public playtest will be available sometime in April. To sign up for this free playtest, eager players simply need to head to Minimo‘s Steam page, where they’ll find a link to both the game’s website and Discord server. From there, they can fill in their personal details to receive an invitation to the playtest next month. It’s unclear just what this first Minimo playtest will contain, but it will apparently allow players to “help shape its future.”
