New The Walking Dead Release Brings Back Daryl Dixon and Rick Grimes

Ever since The Walking Dead first aired in 2010, Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon have been two of its most popular characters. Now, the duo have officially returned in a new Walking Dead release that has already been extremely well-received by fans.

It’s fair to say that The Walking Dead isn’t quite the powerhouse franchise it once was during the early 2010s. However, its pop culture footprint is still enormous, with multiple spin-offs still airing and a massive fan base continuing to tune in. But in the video game space, the franchise has enjoyed less success, with Telltale’s The Walking Dead standing as the one project to receive critical acclaim. It’s not for a lack of trying, and other releases such as Survival Instinct and Overkill’s The Walking Dead have been largely panned.

Rick Grimes Officially Returns in The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival

Popular duo Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon are officially back, returning as playable characters alongside Michonne and Negan in The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival. Released on September 18, the game is an arcade brawler available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Players take on the undead and the Saviors across several iconic locations from the series including Sanctuary, Hilltop, Alexandria, and more, with a storyline based on the events of the All Out War storyline.

Notable Walking Dead characters and locations aside, the game features plenty to love for brawler fans, too. Players use exciting combos and finishers, level up their character via resource scrounging and solving puzzles, and even engage in a Game+ mode when all the action is done the first time around.

Aside from the release of The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival, it’s unclear exactly what the future holds for the franchise in the video game medium. As previously mentioned, it has always been a challenge for new Walking Dead games to impress, so it’s good that Streets of Survival seems to be well-received so far.
