Glenn Rhee has always been a big fan-favorite character in The Walking Dead. Across the TV series, graphic novel, and Telltale’s video game, Glenn has established himself as extremely popular, and thanks to a new The Walking Dead release, he has officially returned.
Glenn’s first appearance came in the Walking Dead comic back in 2003. He remained a staple character throughout much of the series, and enjoyed similar popularity during his appearance in the TV show, where he was played by Steven Yeun. It proved to be a star-making role for Yeun. The character also returned in Telltale’s The Walking Dead game in 2012, giving fans a familiar face to root for. And while Glenn’s fate is seemingly sealed by his previous appearances, a new Walking Dead release is bringing him back.
The Walking Dead: Aftermath Adds Glenn in New Update

A brand-new update to mobile game The Walking Dead: Aftermath has added Glenn Rhee for players to add to their roster of Combat Survivors. The update is titled Glenn’s Target Challenge, where players can work towards bringing the fan-favorite character into their lineup.
The developer has released a new Survivor File for Glenn, detailing everything players can expect from the new Combat Survivor. His playstyle overview is detailed as combining “shotgun coverage with Acid damage and throwing knife support.” His signature mechanic is named Stand and Deliver, which makes his Standing Still boost increase his Attack Speed and Damage. His core abilities are Dexterity, Living the Dream, Shattershot, Extra Pellets, and Throwing Knives Acid Cloud, each of which provide a unique bonus during gameplay.
The Walking Dead: Aftermath initially launched in July 2026. Developer Ares Interactive has been updating the game in the months since release to add many more beloved Walking Dead characters, with Carol and Maggie also recently arriving. Because the franchise has such a massive roster of characters, The Walking Dead: Aftermath has plenty to choose from with any future updates.
While The Walking Dead may not enjoy the enormous cultural relevance it had in the early 2010s, it still remains a massive franchise with tons of fans. It has always had a tough time in the video game space, struggling beyond Telltale’s The Walking Dead. 2026 has been better in this regard, with both Aftermath and fighting game The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival launching this year.
