A new Legend of Zelda-themed Switch 2 console is reportedly in the works, according to a new leak. The Zelda-themed Switch 2 leak arrives as the franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Nintendo has been releasing unique Zelda versions of consoles for ages, with one of the early instances being its Minish Cap Game Boy Advance SP. Since then, just about every handheld and a number of home consoles have received unique Zelda editions, which are typically emblazoned with the Triforce or one of the series’ other popular emblems, and colored gold, though there are some exceptions.
New Zelda-Themed Switch 2 Leaks
According to a new leak by way of Shpeshal_Nick and Necrolipe, a Zelda Switch 2 console is in the works. Initially, it was believed that this console might be themed upon Ocarina of Time, given the upcoming remake, but it seems that Nintendo has chosen to theme it on the overall franchise’s 40th anniversary, instead. The details surrounding the Switch 2 console itself and its appearance are unknown at this time, but some information regarding a Zelda 40th anniversary Pro Controller has been shared. Necrolipe states that the controller is largely black, with green tips and gold accents, and a Triforce emblem is placed between the – and + buttons. It’s not clear if the console will include the controller, or be bundled with the Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time. However, if the leak is accurate, the console and controller will likely be revealed and released sometime this year, given the timing of the anniversary.

With the console’s appearance up in the air, fans have begun to speculate and make their wishes known. Numerous gamers across social media have openly hoped that the console looks more unique and has a stronger Zelda-theme than some of the more recent Zelda variant consoles. While the Hyrule Edition of the Switch Lite was fully gold and came with a large Hylian Crest on the back, the Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED was much more minimalistic, with simple designs on the Joy-Cons, and opting to put the emblem on the dock, instead.
Given that there haven’t been any unique Zelda versions of the Switch 2 yet, it seems like the perfect time to introduce one. In addition to celebrating the anniversary, there are likely many gamers who have yet to buy a Switch 2, but who will do so in order to play the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake. Even if the game isn’t bundled with the new console, there will likely be a lot of fans choosing it as their first Switch 2.
While excitement is building for a Zelda-themed Switch 2, fans should make sure to keep their expectations in check. All leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, as there’s no definitive proof from Nintendo yet that the system and controller officially exist. Furthermore, there’s a possibility that any supply of Zelda-themed Switch 2 consoles could be more limited than ever before, given the current hardware crisis facing console manufacturers. In addition to driving up prices of systems like the Switch 2, there has been a shortage of components, so producing enough Zelda-themed Switch 2 systems to meet demand might be difficult.
