Nintendo has recently highlighted 33 games that are in active development for its Switch 2 console, with many releasing before the end of the year. The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the fastet-selling video game consoles of all time, and while the jury is still out on whether it will manage to eclipse its predecessor’s lifetime sales or not, there’s no denying that it is already a wildly successful console.
If Nintendo keeps supporting the Switch 2 as aggressively as it has been, it’s likely that the console’s sales will remain strong, even in the face of unfortunate price increases. Nintendo itself releases a major new Switch 2 game nearly every month, and third party partners help pick up the slack at times as well. The result is a never-ending stream of Switch 2 games, including quite a few noteworthy exclusives that can’t be played anywhere else.

In Nintendo’s latest financial report, the company spotlighted six exclusive first-party games that are in development. Turn-based tactics game Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is coming to Switch 2 on September 27, while Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is scheduled to launch on October 22. Xenoblade Chronicles 3‘s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will be released on December 3. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is also confirmed for a 2026 release, but is still without a specific release date at the time of this writing. And finally, Pokemon Winds and Waves and Xenoblade Genesis are two huge RPGs that will be available for the Switch 2 at some point in 2027.

As far as third-party games go, Switch 2 has some heavy hitters on the way. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will finally release for Switch 2 on August 28, while Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Final Fantasy Resonance, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 ensure that Switch 2 owners are able to play the biggest games of the year on their platform of choice.
Exclusive third-party games coming to the Switch 2 this year include Orbitals on September 3 and The Duskbloods, which doesn’t have a release date just yet. Orbitals is a co-op sci-fi game with a striking art style inspired by classic ’80s anime. It’s often been compared to It Takes Two, but time will tell if it lives up to that high bar. The Duskbloods, meanwhile, is the next game from legendary FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miayazaki. The Duskbloods looks like a PvP twist on something like Bloodborne, and it will be exciting to see how it pans out whenever it launches.
Some of the biggest third-party games of 2027 are also coming to the Switch 2. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be day and date on Switch 2 as other platforms, as will Resident Evil Veronica. Time will tell how long third-party publishers support the Switch 2, especially after the PS6 and next-gen Xbox are out, but fans can look forward to plenty of major game releases in the meantime.
