June is a slow month for new Nintendo Switch 2 releases, but there are still three big games to look forward to. June 2026 marks the one-year anniversary of the Switch 2, and it’s safe to say that Nintendo came out swinging with its new console. Switch 2 launched with Mario Kart World and has since received some other noteworthy exclusives, including the Game of the Year-nominated Donkey Kong Bananza and the smash hit Pokemon Pokopia.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has enjoyed a successful first year on store shelves, with the high-quality games available on the system convincing nearly 20 million gamers to buy the console so far. Nintendo will have to ensure that there is a steady stream of big new game releases to keep Switch 2 consoles selling at a steady pace, and while June is admittedly pretty bare compared to most months, there are still a few heavy hitters to consider.

The Switch 2 has three major new game releases on deck for June 2026. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to Switch 2 on June 3, while The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is set to launch on June 18. Finally, the Star Fox remake will release for Switch 2 on June 25.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the long-awaited port of the acclaimed open world Final Fantasy game that first made a big splash on PS5 a couple of years ago. The fact that a game the size and graphical quality of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can run on Switch 2 is a testament to the new console’s power and should make for one of the more exciting third-party releases.
The Adventures of Elliot, meanwhile, is Square Enix’s newest game. The Adventures of Elliot utilizes the HD-2D art style seen in Square Enix games like Octopath Traveler, but it’s an action-RPG instead of a turn-based RPG. Furthermore, Adventures of Elliot gameplay looks a lot like Nintendo’s own Zelda franchise. Adventures of Elliot isn’t an official Zelda release by any means, but it definitely seems like it will scratch the same itch.
The flagship new Switch 2 release in June 2026 is easily Star Fox. The latest in a long line of Star Fox remakes, the Switch 2 version of Star Fox features significantly improved graphics compared to previous games in the series. It features online and local multiplayer, and should make for a solid return to form for the dormant franchise.

Beyond these three games, June 2026 should also mark the next iteration of Nintendo’s Nintendo Direct series. The June Nintendo Directs are typically the biggest of the year, and this iteration should be no different. Nintendo has yet to officially announce the Nintendo Direct, but it’s believed that it will take place in the middle of the month and will likely feature the first look at the leaked Ocarina of Time remake. Fans will have to keep an eye out for more information on the Direct, but hopefully concrete details come sooner rather than later.
