In celebration of the recently released Super Mario Galaxy movie, Nintendo is giving fans a chance to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 bundled with both Super Mario Galaxy games. Not only is the Nintendo Switch 2 already the best Nintendo console on the market (or at least one of them), but the Super Mario Galaxy games are stellar too.
On Metacritic, the original versions of both Super Mario Galaxy 1 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 have 97 metascores, earning them universal acclaim and Metacritic’s Must-Play designation. It’s worth noting that the Nintendo Switch port of these games, which is what’s included in this bundle, has a metascore of 87. The Nintendo Switch review scores reflect the quality of the port, not the games, and there are some lingering issues largely associated with how the Mario games were built with the Wii’s IR pointer and Wii Remote in mind. In other words, the Super Mario Galaxy games play a little less naturally on the Switch as opposed to the Wii, but that’s not going to be a noticeable dealbreaker to many Nintendo Switch 2 players.
Nintendo Reveals New Limited-Time Switch 2 Deal

- $499 Bundled Price
- Available Until May 9
This bundle includes the latest hardware and two of the highest-rated games ever for the price of $499. A Switch 2 costs $449 on its own, while the Super Mario Galaxy 1 + Super Mario Galaxy 2 combo is typically priced at $69.99. This represents a saving of $19.99 for those looking to upgrade and snag two games as well. It is believed that this bundle + discount will only last a month or so, until May 9 to be precise, meaning fans should act fast. Other bundles on offer include Switch 2 + Donkey Kong Bananza, Switch 2 + Mario Kart World, which do not have the current Super Mario Galaxy discount.

The Super Mario Galaxy games include all the improvements for the original Switch system, including enhanced resolution, improved UI, features like Assist Mode, and additional content. However, there’s also a free Switch 2 update for improved visuals for both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, providing even more reason to pick up the bundle. Or to pick up the games if you don’t already own them.
Of course, the biggest reason is the recent release of the Super Mario Galaxy movie. It has been in theaters since April 1, and in that time, it has accumulated 198 critic reviews and 5000+ verified viewer reviews. Overall, the movie’s critical scores see it accumulate a 43% score on the tomatometer—almost in direct contrast to viewer scores, which are at 89% on the popcommeter. What the difference here indicates is that it may not be the best animated movie in the world, but there’s no denying that it is one made with its audience in mind.

As GameRant wrote in its review of the Super Mario Galaxy movie, “With a wahoo and a lets-a-go, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is a relentless barrage of references, nostalgia, and visual splendor.” And after all the splendor, it’s not a bad time to check out the games on the Nintendo Switch 2.
