From the moment 4-year-old Cameron first stepped out into Glimmer in Spyro 2, he knew video games were going to play a central role in the rest of his life. Though he never planned to make it the focal point of his career, Cameron spent the vast majority of his spare time growing up playing games, and following graduation from the University of Reading, he thought he’d try his hand at writing a few reviews. Nintendo has just confirmed that Super Mario Sunshine is heading to Nintendo Switch Online on August 13, 2026. The beloved GameCube game was first announced for Nintendo Switch Online all the way back during the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal event in April 2025.
Super Mario Sunshine Is Coming to Nintendo Switch Online on August 13
After over a year of waiting, Nintendo has finally confirmed when Super Mario Sunshine is coming to Nintendo Switch Online. Thankfully, fans only need to wait another two weeks, with Mario Sunshine officially confirmed for an August 13 release date. Of course, as Super Mario Sunshine is a GameCube title, only those who are both subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack and who own a Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to play the classic Mario 3D platformer.
