No Man’s Sky releases its Remnant update, bringing a host of new features for players to dig into, including a dedicated gravity gun and the ability to customize their own Colossus trucks for transporting scrap and other resources. It’s been a long road for No Man’s Sky, which is approaching its 10th anniversary. Despite such a unique path from launch to where the game is now, Hello Games continues to keep it updated and fresh with new content to enjoy.
It’s no secret that No Man’s Sky had one of the most difficult launches even seen, largely due to mismanaged expectations which quickly spiraled out of control. While the game ran well, fans were expecting the world due to a procedurally generated universe and promised features that were outright missing at launch. Despite missing expectations and being left for dead, Hello Games never gave up on the game, and managed to release a staggering number of free updates adding content, gameplay features, and more that has managed to resurrect the game and keep it going over these past 10 years.

No Man’s Sky Remnant Update Features
The latest free update for No Man’s Sky is Remnant, and for many fans, they’ve been given the power to play with gravity and physics. Remnant introduces its own version of the gravity gun called the Gravitino Coil that can be applied to No Man’s Sky‘s multi-tool device. With it, players can now grab large objects to carry, shoot, or toss them around the world. As part of this, players can also use it to harvest resources through heavy-duty waste collection as well, potentially leading to some valuable and rare finds. The Gravitino can even grab smaller enemies like sentinel drones.
Alongside that, players have a variety of new options to customize their Colossus exocraft trucks from cabins, chassis attachments, paint options, and wheels/running gear. Any planetary surface can now be driven now with treads, superelastic wheels, off-road gear, front attachments, spider-walker legs, and other options. There’s even a flatbed module that can be installed, allowing players to essentially turn their Colossus into a hauler, though be warned, it will make the vehicle tip over if attempting to go up a steep cliff or unstable terrain. Other options include a furnace that allows for immediate waste disposal on the go.
Combining the Colossus and Gravitino Coil, players can become their own salvage crews to help clean up the landscape, transport and salvage resources from wrecks or industrial waste, bringing them back to an industrial yard or the newly added Waste Processing Plants that turns the materials into valuable resources and even rewards for removing the waste threat. Players can also run into Volatile Waste while out in the world, unstable material that can be toxic, radioactive, or explosive, tasking players with carefully managing them and bringing them to a specialized waste processing plant.

There’s a new community expedition kicking off for a limited-time, bringing players together to take part in a convoy to cleanup and reclaim a planet covered in wrecks and potential salvage. Players will need to use the new features in this update to help clean things up, either as someone hauling material or maybe working in the scrapyard to process the delivered material. A new armor set is also available within the Remnant update called the Heirloom set, and can be earned by participating in the new expedition.
Even with Hello Games currently working on Light No Fire, an open-world adventure game, it doesn’t appear that the team is slowing down on updates for No Man’s Sky either. It’ll be interesting to see how Hello Games balances both games eventually, but either way, fans of the studio will have plenty of options ahead of them.
